Dear Ted and Sheri,

How sad I was to see that your dad had passed away. I had not been in to see him in the past few months as I myself was away frequently though he knew that I thought of him often as he had a photo of the two of us hanging on his pegboard in his room at the Perley Rideau Home.

For many years, your Mom and Dad used to come up to the penthouse on the 26th floor at the Skyline Hotel (now the Crown Plaza) in the early 80s to listen me sing with my partner (Loving Touch) and dance the night away every Thursday night, even sometimes returning on the Friday or Saturday with some friends. I'm privileged to have known them both as they often times referred to me as their 'adopted daughter' always remembering me during their many travel, with a small token from where they had been.

I also had the pleasure in the past years to perform at the Perley and would always rejoice to see Ted front and centre to listen to the music. We sometimes would escape around the corner on the second floor to enjoy a few moments of reminiscing as he took great pleasure in playing a few tunes for me to sing for him -- somewhat of a private concert which he loved because more often than not, other in the area would gather around to join in the fun! His joy of music was truly a precious gift that we all were lucky enough to share.

There are so many more memories that I hold dear to my heart, but the best ones are simply to have known your Dad and appreciated the his great qualities the 'true gentleman' that he was with everyone.

May he now be his sweetheart Aileen and continue to dance to the music of the love in their hearts...

Rest in peace my dear friend...

On behalf of all the residents at Extendicare/Starwood, I want to say how much JOY that Ted brought into our "home"!! He always went the extra mile to make sure that we could enjoy some tunes! As an activity programmer, I remember how touched I was knowing that he took some overtime to play the piano while making a cassette tape (which I still use!) of all the popular old familiar songs to use in a pinch when perhaps we needed a song and didn't have a piano player! Ted was always giving! Thank you for your gifts of music and friendship, Ted! The heavens are surely filled with magnificant music now that you have arrived at your gracious eternal "home".

Ted and Sherri,

I remember all of you from your family dinners at the Continental Dining Lounge. Sorry to hear of the passing of a wonderful man.

Oh, I shall miss Ted big time. I was part of the Plus Six in Song group that performed regularly at the MacDonald Club when Ted and the gang were part of the audience. They were always so supportive of live arts and it was a pleasure to know that we had an engagement at the club as we would be able to socialize with Ted again. More recently, I have had the opportunity to perform on a regular basis at the Perley Rideau Home and sure enough, there was Ted in the front row cheering us on. He was also the speech maker that was assigned the task of thanking the performers and he was so gifted in that. He was careful to choose just the right phrase to describe our performance. He was a good friend and we will sorely miss his upbeat personality.
Our condolences to his family.

Ted and Eileen were marvellous neighbours at the Condo where I grew up....he taught me, a 9 yr old new immigrant, to dive (was retired by then and enjoying the pool several times a day); showed me the fancy "turns" that swimmers were doing during 1976 Olympics in Montreal.... inspired me to be a Lifeguard; always looked out for me/other kids. I thought their road trips were the best idea if I ever get to retire like that...House on Wheels !!....as their Paperboy, they would always invite me in at collection time.

Later, my wife, a Nurse, told me about this great Volunteer that played Piano at the Nursing Home for residents.....it was Ted !

I am truly sorry I did not visit with Ted at Perley Rideau.

Thank you for influencing/changing my life.....thank you for the attention you gave a kid trying to fit into a new Society; thank you for your contribution to the well-being of others.

I know that my involvement with Youth (Church, Sports, DeMolay & the Masonic Family) stems from the example that people like you set.

Love ;

Joyce, my thoughts are with you, I liked your description of your dad referring to Gene as ""the boyfriend", and his piano playing.
