When Eddie was about 11 years old, he and I went to CYO camp for a week during the summer. If your parents could afford it, you paid for the camp, if not you went for free. Our parents gave us 10 cents a day for spending money. When it came time to buy candy at the end of the day, Eddie noticed that one poor kid didn’t have money to buy candy. Eddie split his dime every day with this kid. That’s what Eddie was all about.

We are all very sad in the Suarez family. My parents Jack and Ofelia have always spoken of Ed's big heart and his selflessness in helping countless others throughout his life. My whole life I never saw Ed angry at anyone and I never heard of anyone being angry at him. Especially in our current times, this is such a rare quality that it highlights what an exceptional person Ed was to all of us. My mom felt sad that he deserved to live longer after all the good he did for others. My solace is in knowing that Ed's compassion, which he showed for others throughout his life, is a reflection of a life well lived. We will truly miss Ed, but the memory of his compassion will live forever in our hearts.

There will be an empty chair at the holiday table this year, but it will be filled with loving memories.
I knew Ed when he worked for Honeywell. He was funny and had a great passion to help the community. I am glad he was able to fulfill his dreams.
