News Death Notice

SCHACHERER, Edward D. Age 87, of Dayton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 17, 2011, at his home. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, August & Clara (Myer) Schacherer; one son, Jeff Schacherer; two brothers, Joe & Frank Schacherer; one sister, Marcella Cavanaugh; and by one son-in-law, Frank Grubbs. Ed is survived by his wife of the past 31 years, Arjie (Trosper) Schacherer; four children, Cheryl (Anthony) Bulcher, Ronny Crider, Connie Grubbs & Deanna (Randy) Wheatcraft; eight grandchildren; one great granddaughter; one brother, Paul (Gwen) Schacherer; and by his extended family & many good friends. Ed retired from Wright-Patt AFB with 39 years of service. After that he went on to work for Merchant Security for several years. Ed was a loving father & husband and will be greatly missed by his family. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton.
