C&S was one of the first games I played, and to this day I still refer to it frequently. A great loss to the hobby.

I am saddened to hear of Ed's passing.



I never met him, but the roleplaying games he wrote were what got me into the hobby - I started with Chivalry & Sorcery and Space Opera.

He will live on through his games!

I had the pleasure of meeting Ed a couple of times at conventions that he attended here in the UK in 1999 and 2000. He was always happy to talk and I am sure that had we had the time, we would have chatted at some length on any number of subjects. He will be missed for the contributions he made to the lives of his students as well as to gaming hobby that he enjoyed.

I never had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Simbalist, but his games have given me many, many hours of enjoyment. He will be missed.

I only knew him from his writing, but I will miss him.

A legend of gaming has passed on. I offer my sincerest sympathy to his family.

Chivalry & Sorcery was my game of choice when I first started gaming, and I eagerly played anything that Mr. Simbalist wrote. He was one of our industry's true greats, and will be sorely missed by all.

I know Ed Simbalist only by his games and essays, which I universally enjoyed. His creativity and love of history will be missed.

The classic S& Background marterial for building "Instant" backgrounds was recommended by me to new referees for years.



He will, indeed, be missed.

I have had the honor of knowing and working with Ed for over ten years. He was an author, artist, and researcher but most important he was a friend. He was my friend.



I will miss the old wolf. May his journey on the plains and mountains be a gentle and kind one.

I knew Ed only by reading his games but his passing away is a very big loss to me.

The many happy memories we have of Ed in our lives will remain long after he has left this earth. May wonderful memories comfort his mother and friends while they grieve his death.
