Eddie Vanek was an Adult learner in my Civil Engineering Technology classes, at Nassau Community College, LI, NY. I was a newer Professor and he helped his fellow students and me in many classes, leading his younger classmates with his good humor and professional attitude for work that he learned working with his Father in construction. He decided to become a Doctor and I had no doubt he would do it. My nephew is making a career change as an older learner and I told him, ` Let me tell you about Dr. Eddie Vanek who one day he dis the same thing started at Community college and made a difference."I looked Eddie up and found this Obit and how s personality in his face says it all about him a true son of St Francis Prep HS and a truly kind and and hard working, seemingly effortlessly, man. A loss I am sure for his family and for his community. May the Perpetual Light Shine upon him.

I have had the pleasure of having Dr Vanek as my Ortho Dr for about 9 years. He had performed six of my surgeries. I trusted and admitted him. He was not only my Dr but, a friend and felt like part of my family. I send my condolences to the family. He as a person was very humble and his sense of humor never ceases to amaze me. I remember before each surgery I would be laying there on the table with the anesthesiologist and him trading stories about cars. He always spoke of his love for cars and driving fast. I will miss him dearly. He will always carry a special place in my heart.

Dr.Vaneck was a physician and friend to my husband John and I. He was very considerate and caring to me after John’s passing beyond that of a doctor, he was a friend, a wonderful Doctor. I had the pleasure of knowing him and being his patient for many years. He will be missed by all that knew him. He will leave a huge void. Rest in peace Dr. Vaneck. Latharine Garcia

Dr. Vanek was a kind man. An excellent Orthopedic doctor. He was the kind of man that treated me like a friend not just a patient. He will forever missed.

To the Vanek Family, I am so sorry for your loss.
I met Dr Vanek in March of 2007, after my Husband and I were in a motorcycle accident. Right from the get go, he was so good at explaining everything he was going to do, and was so good with keeping my family informed. My left tibia was broken, and my left arm was shattered in 9 places...both required titanium. I tell people that I was his humpty dumpty because he put me back together again.
My husband was airlifted to Modesto, but was having trouble after he was discharged. One day in the waiting room for a office visit, my husband was talking to Dr Vanek, telling him about his issues, and Dr Vanek said let me take a look....he found a fracture in his wrist that was missed in Modesto, and he took care of it!
You will be missed, Dr Vanek. Merced has lost a great orthopedic surgeon.
