Edward Xanders Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 3, 2025.
Edward Leslie Xanders, Sr., beloved father, grandfather, and hospitality professional, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2025, just after celebrating his 83rd birthday.

Born on July 24, 1942, in Lansing, Michigan, Ed was the son of the late Helen and Leslie Xanders. He was also preceded in death by his brother Jack, his sister MaryAnn Xanders Przeworski, his beloved wife Judy Muenchen Xanders, and his son Duane Xanders. Ed graduated from St. Mary's High School in Lansing and went on to earn a degree in Hospitality Management from Michigan State University. He married the love of his life, Judy, on August 1, 1965, and together they built a family and a life grounded in love, dedication, and hard work.

A respected leader in the field of Hospitality Administration, Ed founded and operated Interim Hospitality Consultants, where he offered guidance and expertise to hotels throughout North America for over 40 years.

Ed was an active member of Springtime Tallahassee, proudly serving in the 20th Century Krewe and as part of the Andrew Jackson Staff. His love for community and celebration was evident in his dedication to the organization.

He is survived by his sons Edward Jr. (Edie) and Brian (Amy), daughter-in-law Kristan, and grandchildren Emily, Katie, Reid, Mary Claire, and Jackson - all of whom brought great joy and pride to his life. A life well-lived, Ed will be remembered for his warmth, sense of humor, and unwavering commitment to his family, career, and community. His legacy continues in the lives of those he loved and served.

A Funeral Mass has been scheduled at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Tallahassee Florida on Wednesday, September 10 at 1:00pm. At a future date, there will be a Cemetery service held at Deepdale Memorial Gardens in Lansing, Michigan.

My condolences on the passing of Ed, my former boss. I worked for Ed at Interim Hospitality Consultants. He and Judy were always kind to my mother and I. He always said family came first. Working for Ed allowed me to travel to many states. It was on one of these trips that I met my husband. So Ed forever changed my life, not just because I met my future husband but because he was always encouraging in my professional growth and I valued his friendship.
