Caswell Beach, NC. Mr. Edward Walter Zalewski, 68, of 904 Caswell Beach Rd., Caswell Beach, N.C. died Wednesday September 20, 2006 at his home after a short illness. Mr. Zalewski was born in Glassport, Pa. on September 12, 1938 and was the son of the late Leo and Blanche Worek Zalewski. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. Mr. Zalewski was a retired Electrical Engineer with the Federal Government. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and very active in the church administration and also extensively involved in Caswell Beach Municipal Government activities, including the Planning Board and Board Of Directors of the Oak Island Light House. He was an active General Aviation Pilot with an instrument rating and an Open Water scuba diver and also enjoyed golf and classical music. He is survived by his wife of forty years, Ann Marie Zalewski of the home; three brothers, Carl and wife Kay of Falls Church, VA., Leon and wife Veronica of Chicago, Ill., Timothy and wife Patricia of Pittsburgh, Pa.; a sister, Mary Ann Zalewski of Houston, Tx.; numerous nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Southport, NC at a later day and time to be announced. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Friends of the Oak Island Light House, C/O Caswell Beach Town Hall, 1100 Caswell Beach Rd., Caswell Beach, NC 28465 or Habitat For Humanity Of Brunswick County, 4255 Long Beach Rd., Oak Island, NC 28465 or a charity of one's choice.
