Edwin Allen Berst

Edwin Allen Berst passed away on February 3, 2025, at the age of 64 in Bakersfield, CA. Born on February 7, 1960, Edwin was known for his loving, humble, and trustworthy nature. He always found the good in people and was devoted to his family, adding a touch of spontaneity and thoughtfulness to every interaction.

Edwin's life was marked by a commitment to his passions and professions. After completing trade school programs in Automotive Air Conditioning and Heating, as well as Heavy Machinery Mechanics, Edwin worked as the head mechanic for Harvey Hall Ambulance. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to start his own mobile automotive shop, "All Fleet Automotive," which catered to both fleets and individual clients. He later established a physical shop on Wilson Road and eventually moved to Bodfish to semi-retire and continue his work in a more relaxed environment.

Outside of work, Edwin had a zest for life that was expressed through his various hobbies. He was an exceptional cook, known especially for his chicken and dumplings, a recipe he cherished from his grandmother. Edwin also enjoyed camping, playing pool competitively, taking long Sunday drives, and spending weekends at the coast or in Las Vegas. His love for animals and spending quality time with his family and friends were central to his life.

Edwin was a Christian with a deep faith.

He is survived by his son, Devin Berst; father, Nolan Berst; brothers, Mike and David Berst; ex-wife, Elin Berst; granddaughter, Daisy Mae Berst; stepsons, Corin and Brendan Decarteret; and numerous nieces and nephews. Edwin was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Berst; brother, Billy Berst; and his grandparents.

A private memorial will be held for family members only, honoring Edwin's wishes for a personal and intimate farewell.

Edwin's life, marked by his dedication to his family, his career, and his community, leaves a lasting legacy of love and service. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him.
