Waynesville, NC – Edwin D. McCall, 86 passed away Tuesday, August 8, 2017 surrounded by his family. He was born in Jackson County on November 2, 1930 to the late James Lewis and Elsie Middleton McCall.
Edwin served his country honorably in the United States Army. He worked at Wellco for many years and later retired from Dayco with over 30 years of service. He was a lifetime member of Balsam Missionary Baptist Church. He was an avid gardener and fisherman.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Beck McCall; and a brother, Willard McCall.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Helen Miller McCall; sons, Larry McCall and wife, Sallie and Bill McCall and wife, Tina; step children, Bruce Wood, Gary Wood, Mary Bryson and Marlene Parris; brothers, Boyce McCall, Sid McCall, Bud McCall and Max McCall; sisters, Dot Beck and Jackie Gentry; grandchildren, Brooke Hyatt and husband, Cody, Ryne McCall and wife, Constance, Maressa McCall; great grandchildren, Macie Jo Hyatt and Hayden Hyatt; and several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Friday, August 11, 2017 from 6 to 9 pm at Garrett Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2pm Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Balsam Missionary Baptist Church with the Reverend Greg Cullen and Reverend Johnny Swanger officiating. Burial will be held at Balsam Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Ryne McCall, Cody Hyatt, Shane Millsaps, Bobby Cogdill, Greg Norman, Steve Beck, Sonny Bryson and Tim Parris.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Balsam Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 105 Heavenly Road, Balsam, NC 28707.
A Message of comfort may be left to the family and guest registry may be signed at www.garrettfuneralsandcremations.com
