BRISTOL, Va. — Effie M. Ringstaff, 81, of 151 Brook Lane, Bristol, Va., formerly of Bluefield, Va., died Monday, Sept. 28, 2009 at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, Va. She was born at Splashdam, Va. and was a daughter of the late Laurel Mullins and Eva Fleming Mullins. She was a member of the Northstar Baptist Church in Bristol, Va. where she was also a member of the Northstar Womens Ministries. She was also a former member of the Graham Christian Church in Bluefield, Va. and the First Baptist Church in Bluefield, W.Va. She had trained and worked at the Clinch Valley Clinic in Richlands, Va. and had also worked at St. Luke's Hospital and Princeton Community.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Donald Wayne Ringstaff; and sisters, Edith McKessoe, Stella Sperow, and Cynthia Mullins.She is survived by husband, Henry Thomas Ringstaff of 57 years; grandchildren, Angela N. Ringstaff, Roanoke, Va., Travis E. K. Ringstaff, Roanoke, Va.; two great-grandchildren, Savannah Ringstaff, Roanoke, Va., Thomas Ringstaff, Roanoke, Va.; sisters, Lola Hylton, Abingdon, Va., Mary Pablo and husband Antonio, Elk Grove, Calif.; brothers-in-law, Hoyt Ringstaff and wife Thelma, Pounding Mill, Va., Jack Ringstaff, Richlands, Va.Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 1, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Dudley Memorial Chapel in Bluefield, Va. with Pastor Bill Houck of the Northstar Baptist Church officiating. Entombment will follow in the Grandview Mausoleum. Pallbearers will be Travis Ringstaff, Randy Ringstaff, Jeff Ringstaff, Keith Ringstaff, Mykal Ringstaff, George Brown, Glade Brown, Stuart Phipps, Ron Smith, Ron Linkous, and Curt Stevenson. Friends may call Thursday, Oct. 1, 2009 from 1 p.m. until the hour of services at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ninety-Eight Cent Mortgage Fund of the Northstar Baptist Church, 2455 King Mill Pike, Bristol, VA 24201.Dudley Memorial Mortuary of Bluefield, Va. is serving the Effie M. We were out of town when we heard about Effie. We are so sad o hear of this great loss. She wad such a wonderful friend an so special to our entire family. You and Effie made every spring brighter when you came to our nursery for plants. We always looked forward to chatting with you and choosing the year's flowers and veggies. I worked with Effie many years ago with Drs. Duncan and Krishnan. What a loss to everyone that knew her. She was such a kind and giving person and never met a stranger. I have thought of her often. My prayers go out to all her family. She was so very good to me and will always hold a special place in my heart. God Bless you all.
