I am sorry to hear of the death of your mother. Our fathers were prisoners in Hong Kong together.

Noreen and Marie - I am so saddened to hear of your mother's passing. Eileen, Ken and my mother, Dr. Vi Frost were in the same 1951 graduating class at McGill University and interned together at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Montreal, Quebec. Over the years our parents were very close friends and supported each other through the hardships of becoming established in the medical field, each in their own different specialties. When Eileen and Ken moved to Vancouver, as did my Father and I, the friendship continued. Eileen and Ken were welcomed dinner guests at our home in Tsawwassen until it became hard for them to drive after dark. Eileen was also my eye doctor and supported me through several difficult times. I fondly remember Eileen as a wonderful warm and caring person. She made the world a better place and will be sadly missed. My heartfelt condolences go out to you both and to your families. Dear Noreen and Marie: As you know, your dear Mom and Dad and my parents had been friends since the 1940s in Montreal. I forged my own friendship with them when I first came to BC in 1975 and they welcomed me into their home and their lives with an endearing warmth that I will never forget. I was deeply saddened when your Dad passed away, and your Mom's death evokes the same feeling. A sharp, feisty, special person who lives on through you.

I am over in Nova Scotia visiting my sister Teresa and her husband Kent. Kent told me that his aunt, Eileen just passed away. Immediately my thoughts went towards her daughters Marie and Noreen, Kent's cousins and Eileen's daughters. Kent introduced me to his cousin Noreen on the Sunshine Coast and we soon became friends and colleagues. She generously invited me many times to the vineyard in Roberts Creek and their house in Vancouver to visit and get to know her parents.

Eileen shared with me the progress she was making on her book, about the first women doctors in BC. She laughed when she told me how she met Ken at med school when she fainted into his arms!

So from where I am in Nova Scotia, and from my home on the Sunshine Coast in British Columbia, I am sending loving thoughts and prayers to the Cambon Nason family. We will miss Eileen. May her determined and inspirational spirit and everything for which she stood live on through her wonderful family, her ground breaking work and book. What a legacy! She was truly an inspirational to all.

Dr. Eileen Cambon was a prominent member of the Federation of Medical Women of Canada as well as of the B.C. and Vancouver branches. We appreciate her many years of mentorship and guidance. She spent many long hours researching and writing her One Hundred Year History of Medical Women of British Columbia. We will all miss her.

I was a young Japanese Canadian office worker who was a patient of Eileen Cambon's for many years. I had the utmost confidence in Dr. Cambon and thought she was lovely. Her kind professionalism and genuine caring for my welfare set a high standard for my relationships with other professionals. My best wishes and condolences to her family.

Eileen Cambon was my "eye doctor" for many years. She also saw my parents, and our children. She was caring and kind, as well as thorough and super competent. A really lovely person.

All the eyes in my family were in Dr. Cambon's care, and a visit to her was always a pleasure, because interesting conversation was a bonus. She was a friend as well as a doctor. I'm glad to hear that she wrote a book, and i'm looking forward to reading it. Marguerite Frost (Jane Forward's mother)

My lovely beautiful Aunt Eileen - who was an inspiration and example to me as a young woman. We shared a love of Jane Austen, travel and 'moving on'. So many happy memories of visits to the west coast and a hand written Christmas card every year! Love to you Eilleen and condolences to my cousins.

I too recognized Dr. Cambon, she was my eye doctor for many years and was so caring of this 11 year old who didn't want to wear glasses. She also inspired me to continue my interest in the life sciences back in the sixties when 'girls' weren't supposed to like scienc. condolences to your family from ours, Peggy Warren, Saturna Island BC

I have literally known Eileen from the day I was born. She and Ken were interning at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Montreal together, and on the day of my birth, April 26th, 1952, Eileen and Ken were right there with my dad Dr Henry Egren Genser, as I took my first breath. its a story I have been told many times over. We reconnected with Eileen when we, in turn, left Montreal and moved out here to Vancouver. She eventually gave my first born his first eye exam. I am very saddened at her passing, she will be dearly missed I know by her family. Our thoughts are with you.

I recognized right away this photo of Eileen Cambon although I'm now in my sixties and I was a six-year old when Dr. Cambon was my first 'eye doctor', helping me towards my first pair of glasses (a stylish blue, cats' eye pair). I remember her kindness very well.
