Eileen Dallas

Eileen's Ceremony of Remembrance on the 1st was lovely and standing room only! When I was 9 or 10, my father bought a house on Straits Road, right around the corner from Prospect Street, where the Fargo house was. I got to know the family pretty well. When my brother got married, he quite literally married "the girl next door" (Rosemary) so we were all family. I loved Eileen, and I remember sitting in the cafeteria at Valley Regional when someone passed me a petition asking the administration to allow girls to wear pants. This was Eileen's work, and the result was yes, we did get to wear pants. (A big help on those blustery winter days waiting for the bus.) Because of Eileen, I got to scratch not one, but TWO items off my "bucket list" a few years back. I had always wanted to go to New York and see The Cloisters, ever since 12th grade English. Well, a Scout trip was leaving and there were two unfilled seats, so I grabbed one and my pal Holly French grabbed the other. It was wonderful in so many ways, I was lost in time. I had also always wanted to see the Royal Lippizaner stallions since reading a book in the 1970s. We stopped to eat at Medieval Times, and I noticed white horses down below us, and yes, that was indeed the Lippizaner stallions, and they put on a beautiful show, including "Airs Above the Ground." I miss Eileen already. I will always miss her.

Eileen was an wonderful Girl Scout leader, we were all so grateful that she planned so many amazing trips for us and supported us through our whole lives. She inspired my love of working with people with special needs. I will always be grateful to her and miss her.

Page and I traveled with the Girl Scout travel troop with Eileen. We had so much fun with her!! Page always attended the bingo which she loved We will miss her so much!

Oh no, what happened? Eileen had such a big heart & a great passion for all her civic work & for people needing help in our society. She was great as a Girl Scouting resource & had creative ideas that she implemented in service of her goals. I'm so sorry to hear she's gone; did not expect this. Rest in the peace of God, Eileen.

Eileen was one of the kindest people I had the honor to know. My deepest condolences to her family and friends. The world needs more like her.
