Eileen Mann Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 1, 2025.
Naples - Eileen F. Mann passed away peacefully on March 28, 2025, in Naples, Florida.

Born and raised in Summit NJ, Eileen graduated from Kent Place School and Skidmore College. A lifelong music lover, her time singing with the Sonneteers was a highlight of her college career. At home on Ashland Road, you could find Eileen harmonizing with her sisters - "Blue Skies" was a family favorite.

Following graduation, Eileen worked for International Paper in New York before marrying Peter Mann. During their 33-year marriage, the couple traveled extensively and shared a mutual love of antiques, eventually turning that passion into a business, "Over the Hill Antiques." Along with their best friends and travel companions, Judy & Larry, Peter and Eileen explored the far corners of the globe on quests for Quimper pottery and Shaker furniture.

During their marriage, the couple lived in Berkeley Heights, NJ, Glenview Il, and Summit NJ. It was in Summit where they raised their 3 children, Stacey, Doug, and Ted. Eileen was active in the Junior League, the Larks singing group, and worked at Kent Place School. But being a mom was her first and favorite role. Most afternoons you could find Eileen serving goldfish crackers and Milano cookies to a house full of kids.

Eileen and Peter adopted Vermont as their 2nd home, spending most weekends making the 4-hour drive to Dorset. There she taught her children to ski, celebrated New Years' Eves and her children's weddings, and met the second love of her life, Len Kallerges, whom she married in 2014. The two eventually left Vermont for warmer shores, settling in Naples FL where she proudly joined the League Club and the National Society of the Colonial Dames.

Friends who knew Eileen spoke of her boundless energy, undying devotion to Jeopardy, passion for exercise, and "Platinum Shopper" status at Marshall's. On any given weekend she could be found walking her beloved Cavalier, Goldie, eating pastries at Cafe Normandie, or stocking up on flowers at Trader Joe's. Her zest for life was infectious - Eileen was a happy person and spread joy to everyone in her orbit.

Eileen is survived by her husband Len, her three children Stacey (Dan), Doug (Tara), and Theodore (Ana), nine grandchildren who fondly called her "Neenie" (Winifred, Francesca, Owen, Phillip, Austin, Christopher, Caroline, Charlie, and August), and her sister Mary (James) Cooper. She was predeceased by her parents, Helen & Austin Winters, and sister Elizabeth W. Horton.

A celebration of life will be held on April 26 at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity by the Cove Church in Naples. Her ashes will be interred in a memorial service on May 16 at 3:00 p.m. at Calvary Episcopal Church in Summit.

Dearest Eileen, I remember we went on a Pure Florida Cruise together and had so much fun! You always made me feel so special & included especially navigating as a new bride in a second marriage. Our mutual love of dogs and God was a rare bond. You had so much spunk and enriched my life so much. I love you & I am sure you went straight to the arms of Jesus!
