Mrs. Eileen G. Quinn, 93, of Dalton passed away Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Albany Medical Center. Born in Pittsfield on October 31, 1923 the daughter of Francis J. and Irene M. Briggs Hoctor, she was a 1941 graduate of Dalton High School. She later graduated from Pittsfield Secretarial School and attended Westfield State College.

Mrs. Quinn established and operated Dalton Town and Country Real Estate in 1971, selling the business in 1996. She remained as manager until 2003 when she retired at the age of 80. She was past President of the Berkshire County Board of Realtors and in 1981 was chosen Realtor of the Year. She served on the State Board of Directors and the Berkshire County Board. She held membership in both the Massachusetts Association of Realtors and National Association of Realtors.

Prior to her Real Estate Brokerage, Mrs. Quinn owned and operated the Junior School Kindergarten from 1963 until 1971. She and her husband, Franklin "Bus" Quinn, also owned and operated two restaurants in Dalton, the Central Lunch which later became the Hard Hat and Quinn's Place which is now Jacob's; they sold both businesses in 1974.

Active in local politics, Eileen served many years on Dalton's Democratic Committee. The Quinn's hosted receptions at their home for both Sen. Edward "Ted" Kennedy and former Massachusetts Governor Endicott Peabody

An original member of the Central Berkshire Regional School Committee, she served during the building of the present Wahconah Regional High School. The first woman to Chair the Dalton Community Chest Drive, she also served as President of the Camp Fire Girls Council and as a Board Member of the C.R.A.

Eileen served for a number of years as the Dalton and hilltown correspondent for the Springfield Union Newspaper, and had many hilltown news articles published in the Berkshire Eagle as well.

Eileen was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for 85 years. She and her husband were members of the Wahconah Country Club for many years. She was a communicant of St. Agnes Church and a member of its Rosary Society. Eileen was a member of the Berkshire County Sherriff's Association serving over 30 years having been first appointed in 1973.

Eileen enjoyed life. Her favorite times were spent with family and friends. She also had a love for travel and good books. She and "Bus" enjoyed frequent New York City escapes where the two "lifelong" New York Yankee fans enjoyed both baseball and Broadway.

Mrs. Quinn was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, longtime Superior Court officer, Franklin J. "Bus" Quinn. He passed away in 2005.

Dear Jay ,
So many vivid memories Of your family and of times gone by . High school shennanigans with Toni , your band at the pre-prom on
Park Street , your fathers sense of humor and loyal friendship , and Eileen in her prized '41 Buick 4dr convertible cruising the streets of Dalton . We stayed in touch over the years and she was always up for dinner and/or a drink. Her energy and interest in life were boundless .
Joining Tom and Linda Callahan and I for a Town concert several months ago , we were invited back to her house for a nightcap , of course ! Stories were retold until the wee hours . The best one , by far , was "the Great International Stowaway Caper " ! A story that will be repeated several times on Thursday , I'm sure .
I hope you and the Poopors take a moment to take pride in knowing how much you contributed to her well-being ,security and ultimately a long and happy life .
My thoughts are with you ,
Carl

Eileen was our daughter's nursery school teacher when we first moved to Dalton, she was so sweet and kind, Dara just loved her. We have known Eileen since 1971 and always felt she was the kindest, sweetest and best dressed lady in Dalton. Our deepest sympathy to all the family and you were lucky to have her so long in your lives.

So sorry to here that Eileen passed away. She will always be remembered as the classy lady that she was. She has now been reunited with her one and only true love ❤. I will always remember her story about how she stowed away on the ship in 1944 to go to see Bus. What a beautiful story.

We had the pleasure of knowing Eileen only a short time but had many laughs. Not long after we met her she told me she only had seven miles to drive from the American Legion in Pittsfield to Dalton. We would always say to her, Seven miles before I sleep. She is greatly missed.

Had so hoped you could have had another visit with us. The ones we had were so much fun. Remembering the surprise birthday party for Kerry. She got us in a bar, we couldn't get her out of there, she was making friends with the other customers! We finally got her out but we're late for the party. She's still the same character We will miss you terribly !
