Elaine Marr

Elaine Marr -PHOENIX, AZ - Elaine passed away on July 5, 2009, after a nine month battle with lung cancer. -Elaine was born in Athens, GA to Garnett and Sara Brown on June 12, 1945. -Her father was stationed in the Pacific during WWII at the time; but she had a considerable extended family nearby to help her mother raise her and her older sister, Marilyn, until her father returned. -She attended elementary school in Winterville, and graduated from Madison County High School in 1963. After a year of business school, she went to work on the University of Georgia campus at the Westminster House Presbyterian student center where she met Mahlon Marr. They were married at the Hull Baptist Church on March 19, 1966. They lived in 10 different locations around the country during their time in the Air Force, and had one son, Jeffrey, born January 9th, 1969, in Goldsboro, NC. -Upon Mahlon's retirement in 1992, they moved back to Georgia. She returned to work with National Bank Products in Warner Robins where she had started as a receptionist. She assumed the duties of Product Development Manager which she continued for another 13 years. During that time Jeff married Carrie Hamilton on Elaine's birthday in 1999. -Following Elaine's retirement in 2007, they moved to the Phoenix, AZ area in order to be near Jeff, Carrie and their sons, Wren now 3, and Samuel 2, in Phoenix. -In addition to her husband Mahlon Marr, and their son, Jeffery Marr of Phoenix, AZ, she is survived by her mother, Sara Brown of Chesapeake, VA; and her sister, Marilyn Brookshire of Virginia Beach, VA. Her father passed away in 1992. She is mourned by her family and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. -A memorial service will be held at the Hull Baptist Church, off Highway 72 at 39 Charlie Bolton Road in Hull, GA, on Saturday, August 1st at 11A.M. Interment of her ashes will follow in the adjacent cemetery. -The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 10:00 A.M. Flowers may be sent to Lord and Stephens, EAST.
