ELEANOR CAPLAN Obituary
On Sunday, March 4, 2012. Beloved wife of the late Hyman S. Caplan; loving mother of Dana (Tony) Balionis of Lancaster, PA, John (Marcie) Caplan of Pittsburgh and Frances J. Caplan of Pittsburgh; sister of the late David Glick and Lee E. Glick; sister-in-law of Betty Liff and Eleanor Mullen; grandmother of Amanda J. Balionis and Andrew and Matthew Caplan. Mrs. Caplan was a 1942 graduate of the Pennsylvania College For Women (now Chatham University). While most proud of her children and grandchildren, she often spoke of her assembling twenty pound fragmentation bombs during WWII as part of the war effort. Services at RALPH SCHUGAR CHAPEL, INC., 5509 Centre Avenue, Shadyside on Wednesday at 11 a.m. Visitation one hour prior to services (10 - 11 a.m.). Interment Beth Shalom Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Auxiliary BVRS, 1800 West Street, Homestead, PA 15120 or a charity of the donor's choice.

Fran, John, Dana, Marcie, Tony and family, I am very sorry for your loss. I also am so very sorry that I did not know until this afternoon of your mother's passing. I always will remember your mother fondly. She was quite a woman.

Dear Franny, John and Dana,
I am so very sorry about the loss of your mother. I hope you realize how very fond of her I was . I still had so many questions to ask her about my father's childhood. I hope you have family and friends around now to comfort you .

I was saddened to learn of the passing of your Mother, Mrs. Caplan. I met her at family gatherings and always thought of her as a woman of great class. What a gift she was to the world and to her family.
My prayers are with Franny, John and Dana and all in the family and close circle of friends who mourn her passing.
