My condolences to the Davey family and may your mother's memories be of great comfort to you all. Eleanor was a wonderful woman who was always looking for ways to help others. I am a science educator whose personal and professional life was touched by Eleanor. I am truely in debt to her and will always have a fond place in my heart for her. I am not the only science educator whose life was enriched by the relatioship we all had with Eleanor. Due to her extradordinary efforts Eleanor always devoted to the improvement of science education, the state of science education in Arizona has continued to improve and flourish. Eleanor always had a smile and kind word for us all and would do all in her power to encourage you as an educator to reach for greater heights! I will greatly miss her and will be forever greatful that her life crossed mine.

I was blessed to have Mrs. Davey as my high school science teacher in 1969 when my dad died. She encouraged me to do science projects and enter them in the science fairs. In l971 thanks to Mrs. Davey and all her help, I won first place in the Central Az Regional Science Fair and was awarded an ASU 4-year tuition scholarship. She helped my two younger sisters to win the same awards, including the tuition scholarships. My mother was extremely grateful to her for all the help. Over the years talking about Mrs. Davey and the rewards of science projects , I encouraged my own children and many others to work on science projects and enter them in County and State Fairs. Mrs. Davey was a great teacher and inspiration. I will be forever grateful to her and remember her always.

I first met Mrs. Davey at Xavier in 1971. My sisters had all done science projects and won all kinds of awards. I was an officer in the the Xavier Science Club and she encouraged me to go to a week long summer camp in Missouri to represent AZ. We kept in touch through the years and she was delighted to discover I had become a science teacher. Over the years she nominated me for various local and national science teaching awards, and encouraged me to do all of the necessary paperwork, and then she went to bat for me. As a result I was awarded AZ Science Teacher of the year and a nominee for the state of AZ for the Presidential Science Teaching Award. Her encouragement and support and go get them attitude has inspired me for years. I was amazed at how many years she was AZ volunteer for the National Science Teacher's Association. She will be greatly missed but her light will shine through in all she touched and all they touch. I feel fortunate to have crossed paths with such a great women who showed me you can be a wife, mother, teacher, and tireless volunteer. She gave so much of herself to so many and that gave her such happiness. I will always remember her fondly with great admiration.

Mrs. Davey was a warm and caring teacher during my four years at Xavier. Graduating in 1966, I did not know of the accomplishments and acclaim she later received. Wonderful woman. I'm sure she will be missed.
