Eleanor (Ormsbee) Lane

1927 - 2015 Mrs. Eleanor M. (Ormsbee) Lane, 88, of Clearwater, FL, formerly of Pittsfield, died Wednesday, December 16, 2015 in Clearwater following a brief illness. Born in Millers Falls, MA, on March 28, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Leslie E. and Margaret (O'Connell) Ormsbee. She came to Pittsfield as a young girl and was educated in the local elementary schools. A graduate of St. Joseph's High School, she received her nurses' training at the former St. Luke's School of Nursing. A registered nurse, she was employed in private duty for most of her active career. Mrs. Lane was later employed as a school nurse with the city of Pittsfield Health Department, retiring in 1978. In Pittsfield, she attended Sacred Heart Church and was a member of the St. Luke's Hospital Alumni. In Florida, she was a communicant of St. Michael the Archangel Church and a member of its Womens' Guild. She and her late husband, Pittsfield Fire Department Captain John P. Lane, were married at the former St. Mary's Church on October 2, 1948. Her husband died June 12, 2000. Among her survivors are her daughters, Leslie Fiorini and her husband, Mike of Pittsfield and Clearwater, FL two sons, Jack Lane and his wife, Sue of Shrewsbury, MA and Jeff Lane and his wife, Jacqueline of Clearwater, FL, one brother, Ken Ormsbee of Centenial, CO, nine grandchildren, Lisa Fiorini Jester, Matt Fiorini, Brian Lane, Jessica Lane Spagnoli, Christa Lane and Katie Lane Allen. She also leaves 17 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Lane was predeceased by a sister, Shirley Cahill and brother, Richard Ormsbee. FUNERAL NOTICE: Lane, Eleanor M. (Ormsbee), age 88 of Clearwater, Fl, formerly of Pittsfield, died Dec. 16th. A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mrs. Lane will be celebrated WEDNESDAY, December 23rd at 12Noon at Sacred Heart Church with the Rev. Peter Naranjo, parochial vicar, officiating. Calling hours at the DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME will be held prior to the funeral on WEDNESDAY from 10:30 to 11:30a.m. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in care of the funeral home.
