Eleanor Sternberg Obituary
Mom, grandma, GG (Great Grandma), or Ellie "Belly" (as she called herself) passed away last Friday, February 12, 2016, at 88. Born in Chicago on January 22, 1928, Ellie had many adventures, traveling the world with the love of her life, Larry, to whom she was married for 58 years. She never got over losing Larry ten years ago. They met at age 13, Larry the best friend of her older brother, Eddie. Ellie and Larry moved to California to attend UCLA and married in 1948. Larry (US Navy) served in WWll and again as an officer in the Korean War, where they were stationed in Guam and enjoyed some of their fondest memories.
Ellie loved shopping for clothes, shoes, and especially beautiful jewelry. She maintained an active interest in politics, truly loved her country (a big Trump fan), loved watching sports, Fox News and playing three card poker. Her family will miss her honest, direct style as much as her loving affection. She is survived by her son James, daughter Kathy, son-in-law Chris, grandchildren Erin, Joe, Kelsey, Jeff and Jake, and great grandchildren Joey and Isla. Services will be held at Pacific View Memorial Park and Mortuary in Corona Del Mar Friday, February 19, 2016 at 10:00am.
