Dear Kath,
I didnt knew what you were going thru. Im very sorry......I was distracted by the fact that we also lost a loved one in august. My brother´s son.
I like to think that they are too good to be here, and because of that, God call them to be our guardian angels.
I love you!

Michael & Kathy & family Naufal,
Grace and I were devastated to learn of Elie's passing. He was an outstanding human being who touched so many lives and was loved by so many. We hope that time will eventually help to ease the pain and that you can take some comfort from knowing he will live on through his loving family.

Elie,
"It matters not how long we live, but how."
This quote couldn't be more true for you and the way you lived your life.
Today I am sad.... I am sad that we aren't searching for answers. I am sad that we have no more questions. I am sad that I won't hear your voice anymore. I am sad that Vanessa and Jackson will only truly no their father through our stories, memories and pictures of you. I am sad that Lucia is alone without a partner to share her life with. I am sad for everyone who knew you. I miss you terribly. I just pray that you finally have peace and have started a new beginning somewhere watching over all of us. Thank you for the signs.... I will watch for them always.

My dearest big brother,
My heart is broken, it’s been 10 days since you have been gone and it still doesn’t feel real. Now is the time when life is supposed to get back to “normal”, but I am not sure I am ready for life to be “normal” without you.
As everyone knew, you were my favorite. Although we were ten years apart, I don’t remember a time when we weren’t friends. We were buddies and just understood each other. I will miss your phone calls, I will miss your sense of humour, I will miss going to Leaf games with you…but most of all I will miss you everyday.
One thing you have taught me is to not take life and loved ones for granted. This is a lesson I hope never to forget. My promise to you is that I will “check in” with family and “stop by” for a surprise visit rather than letting life get in the way.
The outpouring of love and support that we have received from those that knew you has helped us get through these last few days. However, it will take some time for our hearts to mend.
Please rest knowing that we will do everything we can to help Lucia, Vanessa and Jackson get through this difficult time. Vanessa and Jackson will know how great their dad was.
You truly were amazing…love you with all my heart,
Tanya,
Your “favorite”

To All The Family
It's so hard to find the right words at a time like this!
It was so much for all the family to go through for the last 2 years, especially Eli and Lucia. All the not knowing (the many hours spent on the internet searching),always looking for an answer to what was wrong.
Maybe the not knowing , was a good thing because we never gave up hope.
When the diagnosis was finally in, that there was no hope,it was definitly not something any of us ever wanted to hear. It was a huge shock!!
Eli passed away on Saturday Sept 5th. Eli was to go to the ZZ TOP concert at Scotia Bank with Wayne, me Jodi & Rocco that night.
It will be a day that I will never forget.
It was my birthday !!!!
Lucia and family,
You are in our thoughts and prayers
Wayne and I are there for you, whenever you need us.

Naufal family and friends,
Elie equals good times, humour with great laugh, compassion, very welcoming, wonderful man... and the list can go on & on...
We are all touched by his "joie de vivre" (joy of living) and he treated everyone like they were part of his family. We truly feel privileged that our path as cross in this crazy adventure call life. He touched so many lives; just by the amount of people attending the Wake and the Church, you can tell that he was loved by everyone.
Rest in peace my friend,
From this day on, I will have a whole new respect for THE LEAFS.

It is always sad when someone for which only good memories can be recalled has passed. I was sorry to hear this and hope that Elie's family is surrounded by love and support, especially the children. And I am sorry that my friend of many years, Mike, is suffering. My condolences to the entire Naufal family. Know that peace will come and there will be light.

Dear Big Brother,
A week has gone by without you and the tears are flowing more than ever. The outpouring of love and kindness from hundreds, if not thousands, of people truly shows us how much you loved life and everyone you came to know.
I know you are looking down on us and wishing we weren’t so sad, but the void you have left is just too large at the moment. Over time we will replace these tears of sadness with tears of happiness in having known you and telling Vanessa and Jackson all of the wonderful stories about their daddy. But right now, we need to grieve, cry, and yell at this unfair world.
All of us promise to take care of Lu, Vanessa and Jackson as you would have done yourself. They are not alone, nor will they ever be. We will be with them every step of the way surrounding them with love as they continue on this difficult journey without you.
Love you always,
Kathy

Dear Lucia,Vanessa & Jackson
I can never forget the talk that Elie & I had at Rocco & Jodi's cottage in July. I never really got to know Elie, until that day.
He talked about you & his children and what you are going through with him. He said what you do and that you never complain, and he said "What kind of a woman is that?" I said, a woman who loves you so much. Elie said, I love her so much also. That was a pleasant afternoon. We had a great dinner and it was beautiful. Lucia, you sure have no regrets, you did everything you could do for Elie.

My Friend, My Buddy, My Brother
Often times in life we miss the chance to say thank you. Thank you for being there, thank you for being a friend thank you for being you. Your popularity is imense, the memories of you are endless. Many lives will not be the same without your presence.
Often times we would say that there is nobody in the world like you. I am hoping we were wrong because you left behind Vanessa and Jackson, two very beautiful children, who I hope turn out just like you. With your loving wife Lucia's guidance we know they will have your strength, your courage your unconventional sense of humour and best of all your love of people. You can rest assured that they are surounded by wonderful people, your loving parents Maurice and Vera, your brother and sisters Mike (Samantha), Cathy (Ziad) and Tania, two great brother in laws, Rocco and Johnnie, your sister in law Jodie, and two loving in laws Pasquale and Rosa. You no longer have to worry buddy, we will do that for you.
If I had one word to describe you the word "special" is truly fitting. You had the special ability to make a connection with anyone you met, regardless of who they were or what they did. You saw the soul of people you met. You had the ability to make us feel confident in your prsence. You brought laughter to the dullest moments. You knew how to get under our skin yet we kept coming back for more.
Slowly this void in our hearts is being filled with your spirit, the confusion in our minds will be soothed by loving memories. Your legacy will live on.
I know how you liked to worry, please worry no more. I will fill your children's minds with stories of your life any chance I get. Don't worry because I feel the strength of your wife Lucia and I know she will raise your kids the way you would expect.
I will miss the laughter, the golf games, the phone calls, the beers we had, the forty years of growing up together.
Rest easy friend

I had the pleasure of seeing Elie every day for the past few years…and every day, he was in a great mood and always had a smile on his face. He would constantly tease me about “abusing” my son by dressing him in Ottawa Senators Jerseys. As the children in the playground were chanting “Go Sens Go” during the playoffs, you could hear Elie trying to get them to change their tune. And at every school event, Elie was there to make us laugh until it hurt. It was an absolute joy being in the company of my fellow Barrhaven-ite and he will be sadly missed.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Lucia, Vanessa, Jackson, Aunt Vera, Uncle Maurice, Mike, Kathy and Tanya. May he rest in peace.

To the entire Naufal family,
I was truly saddened to hear of Elie's fight and subsequent passing. I had not seen Elie in many years until the RHS Mini-Reunion in December 2007. We spent alot of time laughing and talking that night just as we had over the many years together in high school.
May you all stand together and support each other in this difficult time and find peace knowing that Elie is in a wonderful place and smiling down upon each of you.

Elie, My big brother, best man, greatest fan and best friend,
If you only knew how many people you’ve touched with your love, generosity and good humour. The crowds lined the street to pay their respects to you. You are truly special. You have meant so much to so many people. You lived your life and loved your life; you set an example for all of us to learn from. You gave so much to us all and for that we will forever be indebted to you.
You were not a quiet man of few words. You were far from quiet. Like a thundering cannon ball, you entered the pool of life with a splash and in so doing for 41 years you showered us all with love, laughs and every so often a dose of humility. You kept us honest and grounded. We will forever wade in your memories and enjoy a smile when the pain of your departure subsides. Until then, we will honour you with our tears and sorrow. Each tear we shed is one of deep love, representing the splash that you made on all of us.
We can and should be angry about life and the cruelty it has brought you and us all over the past few days and months. In time, we will realize that life is unfair, not to us but to those who were not fortunate to have known you. We were all lucky to have had you in our lives. Although your years with us seemed short, your time with us will remain everlasting. You may have left quietly, but you voice and laughter will continue to resonate through all of us.
Kathy and Tanya gained so much from you. They will miss you and cherish you in their hearts forever. As their favorite brother, you meant so much to them. Through your actions and devotion, you showed your love for them.
Nick and Dennis have lost their little brother; their deep pain and sorrow are a reflection of their love for you. Every one of your cousins loved you without condition and with so much pride; you were their "cuz" and that meant so much to them.
Dan and George have lost a big brother. They are so saddened by your passing, but grateful to you for all the love and memories you've given them and the lessons you have taught us all.
Shaker and all the lads are grieving and their sorrow I cannot describe. Their pain is deep and their love for you immeasurable. They will miss you dearly.
Your aunts and uncles have lost the one nephew that drops in to say hello and offer a few minutes of Elie-time. While the rest of us claim to lead busy lives, you never lost touch with your family; they will forever thank you for that. The void you have left in their hearts can never be restored.
Mr and Mrs Cianci have lost a son that they have loved from day one because of your generosity, good humour and warmth. They will miss you, as will Jodi, Rocco and Johnny. They embraced you as a brother and their tears are testament to how deep you touched their hearts. I thank the entire Cianci family for loving you, for caring for you, and for embracing you as their own. You deserved much love in your life and from the Cianci family you received more than even you could have imagined. Jodi, I will never forget what you did. You are my brother’s sister.
Mom and Dad are aching and I know you would not want to see that. But brother they need to. They cry to the heavens to speak to you with the hope of hearing your voice and feeling your breath one last time. They do it out of love. Please allow them this. They will be strong, in time, with Vanessa and Jackson’s love.
Lucia is the angel you lived for. She loved you and cherished every moment with you. She will never forget you. She will care for your kids and raise them as you would have wanted. You brought her much comfort and happiness and in return she gave her love and the beautiful children that you both deserved. Her heart will never be the same, but it will grow stronger because of you - because of the strength you will continue to give her. She will never be alone. Like you did to us, we will shower her with love and be their for her. Lucia, we ask nothing in return; you have given my brother so much. Thank you for loving him and for making Elie’s last chapter a great one.
Vanessa and Jackson will miss you my brother. They will be shown the love that you’ve shown us. Rocco, Johnny, Samantha, Jodi, Kathy, Tanya, Zyad and I will embrace them as our own. They will be told of the great dad they had. We will never stop praising you and reminding them of the love you gave them and the pride you had for them both. We promise you that.
Samantha , Sofia, Marysa and I will miss you. As your little brother, I received so much love, laughter and strength from you. You took me under your wing at Heron Park, Alta Vista and Ridgemont and with you there I knew I had nothing to fear. You protected me and guided me. You cheered for me on the court and fought for our team in the stands. You showed me the beauty of a running jumper from half court. You taught me about the important things in life and only now with your passing do I realize that for 40 years you were my teacher. I now know the definition of friend, son and brother. Thank you. I wish I could have changed the path for you. I wish I could turn back the clock. I wish I could have you back in my life for just one second. Just one. One second would be an eternity for me. I only wish. Thank you my brother for everything. Thank you thank you thank you. The pain is unbearable, but I will get through because I have Jackson, Vanessa and Lucia to give me that extra second of you. To make me feel your smile and hear your voice again. I will stay near them for them but for me as well. I will be strong for them but will only be strong because of them. Please rest Elie with no worries. Please rest with no regrets. Please rest with a smile. Please rest knowing that you left your warmth and love that we will bask in forever. I love your so much brother and will never forget you. I love you so much.
Go Leafs!
Your “little brother”

Although I was aware that Elie was very ill, I was shocked to learn that he was taken from us so soon. My heart goes out to you, Lucia, as your children and mine are so close in age, I am keenly aware that your pain must be deep...and to Elie's mother and father, as I know that the human heart is not equipped to handle the loss of a child at any age.
My first memory of Elie was early after I had met Lucia. Although I did not know her well, I knew that she had found someone that made her truly happy. Although Elie was not there at the time, Lucia's beautiful face was even more radiant when she spoke about him. That is how he will live on - as we remember him, we will smile at the thought of his gentle nature, his sense of humour, his love for his family, and his heart that was open to everyone, friend or stranger.
God Bless the Naufal family. I hope you all find comfort in each other and the many friends that gather around you.

To our dear Naufal family -
Mike, Kathy, Tanya, Vera, Maurice, Lucia, Vanessa & Jackson,
We are with you in heart and in prayer, and could we wipe every tear, and turn back time, there'd be a stampede of people racing to make things better. We all hoped and prayed so very much that things would go differently than they have. We are so very sorry for your loss, and will hold you up, and be strong for you, and with you all.
The love and dedication you have to family, spreads to where you work, and what you do - I never had the chance to get to know Elie, but feel I know him, especially in the last few weeks, through you.

I was deeply saddened to hear about Elie's passing. Elie's constant jokes and kidding around is what I remember most about Elie from high school. He always had a smile on his face...and brought laughter to all who knew him. Elie, you were one of a kind.

Lucia and family,
My deepest condolences to you and your family. I am so sad to hear aout Elie. I had the pleasure of meeting him a few years ago when he was in Toronto on Union business. I have spoke to Elie hundreds of times on the phone and he always made me laugh. I knew that when I called the depot if I could get Elie on the phone the problem would get solved. His favourite saying was "I wasn't in that day!" From all his friends at Head Office - Elie will be GREATLY missed!

To the families of Elie Naufal:
I was so very shocked and saddened to recieve an email and be notified of Elie's untimely passing.
I have many fond and vivid memories of Elie reaching as far back as junior kindergarten at Heron Park! I especially remember many school trips in winter to MacSkimming Farm. I remember the lively, vivacious and cheery disposition that Elie always sported, along with with his boyish charms.
As we grew older and eventually moved on to Ridgemont High School, Elie's fun-filled spirit filled the hallways, auditorium and sports fields...rallying the student population in support of whatever was going on that day.
I was fortunate enough to bump into Elie a few times after high school and the last time was at the RHS reunion.
I will miss his hearty laugh, his humour, his compassion and his shenanigans of days gone past.
A great man no longer walks among us, but remains in our hearts forever.
Blessings to his family, may time provide you peace and comfort.
