Elijah Zabawa Obituary
Friends may call at the Capaul Funeral Home, Thursday March 14, 2019, from 2-8 PM. He will lie in state at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Ida, MI, Friday, March 15, 2019, from 10 AM until the services at 11 AM. Pastor Ted Kerr III will officiate. Burial will be Rath Cemetery, Monroe, MI.
Born August 8, 1996, in Sylvania, OH., Elijah was the son of Sean and Nicole (Baumia) Zabawa.
He was a 2015 Ida High School graduate, Ida, MI.
Elijah worked for Cabela's, Dundee, MI, as a greeter for 2 years.
He was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Ida, MI, who loved video games, hunting, horses, movies, his binoculars, his family and his companion service dog, Mako.
Survivors include: his parents, Sean (Lori) Zabawa, Nicole Baumia; brother, Ezra Zabawa; grandparents, Bob (Sandy) Zabawa, Dale (Karen) Baumia; stepbrother, Isaac Woods; stepsisters, Emily and Lauren Woods and his companion service dog, Mako.
He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, an uncle, Shane Zabawa, and a cousin, Angelina Zabawa.
Memorial contributions can be made to The Congenital Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Eli has been weighing heavily on my mind lately.
Although we lost touch in late middle school and high school, Eli was one of my best friends in fourth grade. He loved to make me laugh and I often times stayed in from recess to play games with him when the weather wasn't the best.
Early on in middle school I ate lunch at his table with him and a group of our friends and I have nothing but good memories of him talking about Indiana Jones and Star Wars or cracking jokes.
Eli was no doubt a light in this world and he will always be remembered for his bubbly spirit and wit.

My sincerest condolences to your family. Eli will be missed. He had such an incredible spirit, and a great sense of humor. His laughter was contagious. I will never forget the days we spent together watching Titanic, playing The Sims, or just talking and enjoying each others company. I am so happy I got the chance to know him.

Our Eli...l worked with Eli at cabelas and was always happy to see him and his dog mako. I think he was the most hardworking young man I've ever met. I always stopped to say hi and have a quick chat and oh boy can he just make you smile. I will miss him dearly and although I know he is with God my heart is broken.RIP now ELI we will meet again Prayers to the family.

He was a good guy. I worked with him at Cabela's. He was always upbeat and had something good to say to everybody he came into contact with. My condolences to his family. He made a difference. He is certainly going to be missed.

Ron and I had just met Eli in December at Emily's graduation party. We are so sorry to have had such a short acquaintance with such a special guy. He told us all about his job at Cabellas and told us jokes. He was interested in Colorado. We are so very sorry for your loss. We hope he is running and breathing easier in heaven!
