Mervin L. Hengst II

Mervin L. Hengst, II, 50, died at 12:07 a.m. Saturday, August 26, 2006, at York Hospital after a brief illness. He was born September 28, 1955, in York, Merv was a son of Mervin L. Hengst, Sr., and the late Rosine E. (Smith) Hengst. He was self employed and the owner of Independent Real Estate Repair in York. Merv served his country during peacetime in the United States Army. In addition to his father, Merv is survived by five children, Noah J. Hengst of York, Mervin L. Hengst, III, Christopher Stauffer, Adam Stauffer, and Brooke Stauffer, all of Sunbury; six grandchildren; two sisters, Joyce E. McDermitt and Diana E. Putman, both of Hanover; a brother, John M. Hengst of West York; and his step mother, Ruth A. (Lewis) Hengst of York. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy L. Swemley in 2000. Following cremation, a service to celebrate Merv's life will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, at Irwin Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 175 N. Main St., Spring Grove.
