Elinor worked in the Wing Department. I knew Elinor when I was working in Dept 17C as a Manufacturing Engineer and interacted with her when we had issues with the wing and center fuselage fit. She was a real ball of fire, always happy and great to visit with. Everyone loved her and respected her knowledge, skill, and ability. On behalf of all my fellow workers in 17C, we say God Bless Elinor, her family, and friends.
She was honored in 2017 with a commemoration flight on a C-17 with an (almost) all female flight crew. She worked on every C-17 ever made. Elinor also received the Air Force association Lifetime Achievement Award and was named 2014 Woman of the Year by the State of California. The photo attached is Elinor receiving a challenge coin by USAF Lieutenant General Maryanne Miller.

She truly was a lady and a Veteran and Heroine in my mind for the extraordinary part she played in her part as a Rosie the Riveter during WWIl and after. She worked on B17 Bombers, P-38 fighters and the Globemaster Cargo/Personnel carriers. I was truly honored and privileged to have been a Penpal of hers during the course of the last 5 or so years. Through our letters, all handwritten of course, my wife, Joy and I came to know her and she got to know us. My wife and I are both military veterans and she honored us for that fact but actually through our letters we became family. We love her, and she has our prayers and we know that Jesus has wrapped her within His arms and welcomed her Home and directed her to reunite with her family in Heaven. Elinor, Joy and I miss you and have felt the vacancy you left behind but we look forward to seeing you when it is our time. we Love you and Miss you, Elinor.

I did not know this beautiful lady, but her story is incredibly inspiring! As it is all the women who went to work to help in World War II. Godspeed, Miss Elinor you earned your wings along time ago! Reading this has inspired me so much!
