Elisabeth M. Green

Age 93, passed away unexpectantly in her sleep on November 30, 2015, on what would have been her 68th wedding anniversary. Elisabeth was born in Merced, Ca, October 15, 1922 to Aron and Marguerite Nielsen. Attended UC College of Agric, Davis before transferring to UC Berkeley. Graduated in 1944, majoring in Food Chemistry & Nutrition. Worked as research chemist at USDA's Western Regional Lab in Bay Area for 4 yrs. Around this same time period, she met Wayne L. Green, a sailor freshly back from overseas and married him Nov. 30, 1947. Son, Gary was born July 10, 1949. Wayne/Elisabeth, working side by side, bought and ran a pre-peeled potato business in Sacramento very successfully for nine years selling it in 1959. Returned to college earning a MA in Anthropology from CSU, Sacramento in 1977. Worked as Office Manager for local insurance inspection firm for 20 yrs, retiring in 1997 at the age of 75. She is survived by her son Gary (Leona); grandchildren Kelly (Jason), Shelby (Steven), Cody; great grandchildren Nicholas, Kylie, Caelan, Wyatt, and Garrett. Preceded in death by her husband Wayne, her parents, and her brother Paul. Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, December 7, 2015 at Andrews & Greilich Mortuary, 3939 Fruitridge Rd., Sacramento. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 5:00 PM, Sunday, December 6, 2015. Private interment at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery will be held at a later date.
