Elizabeth Augustyn Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 19, 2020.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Elizabeth (Schmieder) Augustyn at the Juravinski Hospital on December 10, 2020 at the age of 96. Elizabeth was born September 10, 1924 in Schramberg, Germany. After the second world-war, her betrothed, Walter, immigrated from Poland to Hamilton where he arranged for her to join him. Walter and Elizabeth were married in Hamilton and raised two sons Peter and Frank. Elizabeth was a kind lady that loved life, she was up to date on the most current news and goings-on in the world. She took pride in being a house-wife and mother and on many occasions you would find her in her apron rustling up a home-made soup, cookies or some other delicious fair. Elizabeth enjoyed knitting, needle-point, reading and not too many years ago she enrolled in French lessons with her son Peter. Her garden on Crosthwaite Avenue brought her hours of pleasure. She is predeceased by her husband, Walter, and will be lovingly remembered by her sons Peter, who she resided with, Frank and his wife Carolyn and her nieces Wanda, Lillian and Irene. She will also be dearly missed by her friends and neighbours from Crosthwaite Avenue, and more recently Binbrook. Our family would like to sincerely thank Elizabeth's personal home care-givers and the nurses and doctors at the Juravinski Hospital. We will forever remember (mom) Elizabeth in our hearts. Due to Covid-19 a private funeral will be held at Bay Gardens Funeral Home Chapel, 947 Rymal Road E., Hamilton with internment to follow at the Holy Sepluchre. To remember Elizabeth donations may be made to Muscular Dystrophy Canada or St. John The Baptist Church, Hamilton.

I'm very sorry to hear of Lislie's passing. She had A long and wonderful life i'm sure. I remember Lislie being so soft spoken and lovely. She always was interested in how my sister and I were and liked to ask us lots of questions. I'll always remember her kindness. ~ Debbie Smith (maiden name McDonald)

Elizabeth (Lislie) was my favourite aunt who was so kind to me since my childhood days. I remember the day she arrived to our home from Germany, when i was 5 years old. She had beautiful long wavy red hair and a soft speaking voice. Oh, how I will miss her soft voice and sweet laughter. Rest in peace Lislie, i love you. Also, my condolences go out to my cousins Peter and Frank & family.

A wonderful warm hearted lady and always a smile on her face whenever I visited Peter during my college years. Yes, a tremendous cook, always had a great meal on my many visits. I know she will be sadly missed very much by Peter, Frank and family. Also our thoughts go out to Peter (Augie Doggie) on his tragic mishap and trust that Peter is on his way to a quick healing and recovery with warmest regards Larry and Diana Groves (Classmate of Mohawk Alumni, class of 1974).

A wonderful Lady. What a vibrant life so well lived. Pennie and I offer heartfelt condolences to you Peter and brother Frank on the passing of your mom. Grieving is complicated by these pandemic times.
May we also add a further sincere hope for Peter's healing and recovery. You are in our thoughts, 'Augie'.
warmest regards Don & Pennie Pettitt (Mohawk Alumni, class of '74)
