I am in Dallas, Texas as I write this. I was looking for her telephone number on a computer search as I left her number at home. I was going to call her this evening. I saw that she died two weeks ago. I was a Gettysbrug classmate of her son Jonathan who died. It was upon his death that we talked several times as she made arrangements for memorial gifts to be sent to the seminary. My other connection with her was that I traveled in Cameroon a few years before she went there and we had a conversation before her departure. She was a faithful soul.God's peace to her.

My heart is aching in the loss of my dear friend Betty B!
She was the mother of my best friend in high school, who passed away on my 17th birthday in 1968.
We kept in touch over the years and my visit to her in Fort Worth, one year ago this month, is time I will always treasure with her. We had hoped to do it many more times. Elizabeth was a female version of Billy Graham. She had a God loving peace about her that spoke very loudly to me. She had energy galore and I was so amazed with her ability and desire to continue to work, almost full time, right up until the end of her earthly life. My last email from her was written on Oct. 5, 2009. I called her on our wedding anniversary on Nov. 2 which was also the date of her late husband's birthday. I left a message, not knowing she was already gone from her apartment but wondered why she had not responded with an email. I now know why she was on my mind so often during the month of October and why I longed to be with her again. Circumstances with another death in our extended family, and timing of flights, are keeping me from attending her memorial service. Miles may separate us but my thoughts will be in Fort Worth and Trinity Episcopal Church on Thursday. I loved her so much and will miss her dearly. Our lives were very intertwined. Our loss is truly Heaven's gain and I have this wonderful, beautiful vision of her reuniting with all of those who have gone on before her, especially her three children. I am so thankful that God allowed us to be friends for so many years and I thank God for the promise of eternal life with Him.
