My dear Peggy, we miss you very much. We met almost 25 years ago at the Bibliothèque Nationale de France, Yves of St. Denis brought us together. You were always so full of energy and plans, and you had more manuscripts and archival sources in your memory than anyone else! I learned a lot from you, and it was always wonderful to meet you in Paris!

I am much saddened to learn of Peggy's death, our contacts over 40 or more years were intermittent but always fruitful. I learned so much from her work and it was a great honour to be asked to write a brief introduction to the very fine edition that she, Cynthia Brown and Jean Luc Deuffic produced of fascinating documents on Les funerailles d'une reine Anne de Bretagne (1514), textes, images et manuscrits, Pecia 15 (2012). We both had this common interest in the remarkable career of Anne, duchess of France and then twice-queen of France, and it was while doing some work recently on Anne that I thought I needed to contact Peggy again only to learn of her passing. We have lost a wonderful colleague and person. Michael Jones

My dear friend Peggy. I was thinking of you and Ralph and just learned now of your passing. I am heartbroken and sad. You were always so wonderful, kind and a true mother-figure to me. I will miss you dearly. My love to you in heaven!!! Xoxoxo Peggy B.

Requiescat in pace PEGGY.

Peggy had a knack for caring about people in 360°. She wrote to me several times about research or to exchange work in progress, but also with kindness and empathy through family tragedies, natural disasters and health crises. She was an outstanding example of how a great mind can coexist with deep humanity, and will be much missed.

I met Peggy at an HD opera at the Walter Reade Theater & continued to see her there and at the Metropolitan Opera. She was always interested and engaged in the performances and rehearsals she attended, as well as the issues that came up in our lives. I enjoyed my time with her and wish that I could have known this brilliant lady and fighter for a longer period of time.

Peggy overflowed with energy and enthusiasm as we discussed/argued points of French history. And this could be done on those swings in Central Park.
