Mrs. Elizabeth (Lorusso) D'Ambrosio, of Shrewsbury, formerly of Worcester, died Thursday, February 10, 2011 in Knollwood Nursing Center. She was 91.

Elizabeth was born on September 13, 1919 in Worcester a daughter of the late Leonardo and Maria (DeFeudis) Lorusso. She moved to Italy as a very young child settling in her native Vieste, Provincia de Foggia where she met and married her late husband, Giacinto 'George' D'Ambrosio and they returned to the Unites States in the 1950's.

She worked as a seamstress for over 18 years at the former Rencroft Coat Factory in Worcester. She would also worked at her daughter Marie's store in Shrewsbury Center, the former Doughnut Inn.

Nonni was a former member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel - St. Ann Parish in Worcester where she was involved in its music ministry and charismatic movement. She later joined the Liberty Assembly of God Church in Shrewsbury.

Her husband, Giacinto D'Ambrosio died in July 1993. She also rejoins her daughters, Angela and Maria DAmbrosio and her siblings, Ralph Lorusso and Lena Lorusso.

She leaves her children, Marie B. Collins of Shrewsbury and Nicholas D'Ambrosio of Melbourne, FL; sisters, Michelina 'Mickey' Brescia of Shrewsbury and Laura Ventresca of Fresno, CA; 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will honor and remember Elizabeth's life by gathering for a calling hour at Heald & Chiampa Funeral Directors ~ The Sumner House, 5 Church Road, On the Common, Shrewsbury Center, on Tuesday, February 15th from 9:30 - 11:00AM followed by her funeral service being celebrated at 11AM. Entombment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum, Worcester.
