Elizabeth 'Libby' Johnson Hastings, 70

LAUREL - Elizabeth "Libby" Johnson Hastings of Laurel passed away Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2007, after a short illness, in the Desert Springs Hospital Medical Center, Las Vegas. She was 70.

Born in Hialeah, Fla., she was the daughter of the late Wesley Arnold Johnson Sr. and Mary Evelyn Hayes Johnson.

She worked as an office manager in her late husband's shipping business, known as H.A. Hastings and Co.

Mrs. Hastings was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Hebron, Md., the American Legion Auxiliary, Laurel, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary, Seaford.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Allen Hastings, in 1997; a sister, Norma Hastings; and three brothers, Wesley Johnson Jr., Richard Johnson and William Johnson.

Mrs. Hastings is survived by three sons, Christopher A. Hastings and his wife Vicky of Eureka, Nev., Chad E. Hastings and his wife Sally of Hebron and Craig M. Hastings and his companion Gloria Hopkins of Onley, Va.; six grandchildren, Phillip Hastings and Cameron Hastings of Salisbury, Md., Eric Hastings of Manassas, Va., Jeremy York of Hebron, Sied Hopkins and her only granddaughter, Makayla Hastings of Onley, Va.; a sister, Jane Ellen Riggin of Salisbury; two brothers, Myers Johnson Sr. of Milton and John Johnson Sr. of Seaford; many nieces and nephews; a companion, Jack Bailey; and her devoted pet, Cowboy.

A funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Holloway Funeral Home, Salisbury, with a visitation one hour prior to the service.

Officiating will be the Rev. William B. Cropper.

Interment will follow at Springhill Memory Gardens, near Hebron.
