My memories of Liz. I met Liz about 70 years ago at the age of 16 going on 17. We were attending Bible School in Didsbury. Dorothy Block, Liz's friend from Rosemary introduced me to her as "Lisa".

The three of us were in first grade Bible School and away from home for the first time. Lisa was a very gifted girl - excelled in memory work and had a wide range in her singing ability. We began to sing together and soon a grade two student Mary Boese from Tofield joined us and we formed a quartet: Lisa sang Bass - we now call it "2nd alto".

We performed at Bible School programs and in many Alberta churches and at Young People's Retreats. One summer we were invited for a week to Elim Gospel Beach in Swift Current. We travelled by train from Calgary to Swift Current, Sask. On this train was a 1/2 an army of young soldiers who requested songs like "It's a long way to Tipperary" and "I'm going to hang out the washing on the Siegfried line". Of course we were not familiar with such worldly songs and continued singing our gospel songs. At some point a soldier came down the aisle, knelt in front of Lisa and said, "You're Cute!". She was embarrassed to say the least.

Cork (Lorne) and Al's friendship also began at Bible School. Cork and I attended their wedding; as a matter of fact, I played the wedding music.

The 2nd year, we were married we lived in Edmonton where Cork was taking his lst year university. Hank, his brother lived with us in a one-bedroom basement apt. One weekend unexpected company arrived at our door, Al & Liz, Peter - Cork's brother & Mary showed up. Believe it or not, we all slept in that apartment! Us three women occupied the bedroom and the 4 men bedded down in the living room. We didn't sleep much but had a great time.

We spent many wonderful times camping and travelling all the way to Estes Park Colorado with our families. Liz was the Life of many a get-together. She was a great cook, I still use her recipes.

Liz is the second quartet member that has passed away. Incidentally, I spoke to Dorothy Block last week. She and her husband are both having health issues. She send her condolences to the family. Our friendship resumed after we moved to B.C.

Dear Hiebert family, To let you know you are in our thoughts and prayers. Liz was a good friend! We so appreciated the many times we enjoyed the warm hospitality in your parents' home and oh, the tasty and plentiful food! We know you will miss her, and so will we and many others, but we are so thankful that she is "better now" . One of the last times we visited her she asked Peter, "When am I going to get better?"
With love from Peter and Reta Neudorf
