Thelma Louise Smith, 86, of Colville, Washington went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 in Colville surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 7, 1936 in Artesia, New Mexico to the late Ira and Ruby (Davis) Looney.
Thelma was born in Artesia, NM and married her husband of 68 years, Gerald Smith in 1954. Thelma was a life time dedicated member of the Church of Christ. After service in the Army and a deployment to Germany, they moved to Montana in 1963 and then to Northport, WA in 1967 and to Colville in 1982. Thelma enjoyed life to fullest from gardening, cooking or playing games with her family and friends such as pinocle or dominoes. She was a great cook with some of the family favorites being Cornbread stuffing and deserts, such as Huckleberry and Lemon Meringue pies. These were just a few of the families' favorites. She loved canning such as peaches, applesauce, apple butter or any kind of jams. Thelma even owned an ice cream parlor for 3 years in the late 80's and early 90's called "Mary Lou's Ice Cream Parlor". Most of all she loved to entertain family and guest especially when it came to telling stories of the past.
Thelma is survived by her husband of 68 years Gerald Smith, their 6 children: John Smith (Karen) of Pullman, WA, Janet Webster (George) of Las Vegas, NV, Rebecca Hink of New Wilmington, PA, Robert Smith (Tracy) of Spokane, WA, Sandra Martin (Eric) of Airway Heights, WA, and Sam Smith (Lacey Jeffries) of Puyallup, WA, 20 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Raymond Looney (Charlene) of Truth or Consequences, NM and was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Leon Looney.

Services for Thelma will begin with a public visitation from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Thursday, December 15, 2022 at Danekas Funeral Chapel and Crematory in Colville, Washington. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 16, 2022 at Colville Church of Christ. Thelma will be laid to rest following the service in Mountain View Cemetery in Colville.
