Of North Versailles, age 89, on June 18, 2018. Betty was preceded in death by her loving husband, John D. Marchitello, whom she was married to for 59 years. Betty was raised in Rankin and wore jeans long before they were made for girls. She was known as Mom, Grammie, Aunt Betty, "Betts", and Grammie Toys. She dedicated her life to her family. Betty was the beloved mother of John Marchitello, Rose M. Marchitello, Kathryn and Chuck Koch, David and Marisa Marchitello, and Valerie and Bill Peddicord; proud grandmother of her wonderful grandchildren, Angelica and Dale Wilson, Santino and Nicole Marchitello, Keith and Erica Koch, Anthony and Andi, Jackie and Fuad, and Kaitlyn Peddicord, and Damian "D.J." Marchitello. She was also the great-grandmother of Emma, Asher, Noah, and Alex; cherished sister of her younger brother Gene Chernick, sisters-in-law's Sally Chernick, and Cil Marchitello. Her niece Susan said, "She was a second mother to everyone". At an early celebration of her coming 90th birthday, nieces and nephews shared memories of many pool outings, no matter the weather, and many other memories, too numerous to list. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Rudolph, and Mary Chernick; her sisters, Frances, Martha, Josephine and John Kundus, Anna Mae and Joe Koncsol; and her brothers, Rudolph, Edward, Karl and Margaret Chernick. There will be no visitation at the funeral home for Betty. A Memorial Mass will be held for her at Madonna Del Costello Church on Thursday, June 21, 2018, at 11 a.m. She will then be laid to rest in St. Joseph Cemetery. Her arrangements have been entrusted to PATRICK T. LANIGAN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, INC., 700 Linden Ave. at Cable, East Pittsburgh, 412-824-8800. .Family requests masses in lieu of flowers.
