Elizabeth McKee Obituary
She followed her calling to serve others by earning a nursing certificate from Loma Linda University. For many years, she cared for patients at Willamette Falls Hospital, first on the Medical/Surgical floor and later in Day Surgery-a transition she humorously called a well-earned "break." Her attentiveness and intuition brought comfort to those in her care and earned the admiration of her colleagues.
Elizabeth was a devoted mother to Stacey Manning, Scott Manning, and Jennifer Rafanan. Through every challenge and triumph, she remained their steady compass-offering wisdom, support, and laughter. Her values of integrity, independence, and mutual care continue to live on in them.
Her family also includes daughter-in-law Holly Manning and son-in-law Roy Rafanan; grandchildren Gamal Sharaf (and his husband Alex Sharaf), Amanda Hickman (and her husband Jordan Hickman), Nicholas Manning, and Nathan Rafanan; and her sister Sharon Dury and brother in law Douglas Davis and her cousin Nancy Fiala and her family, as well as her five nieces; Susan Dury, Jane Reingrover, Deanna Dekada, Paulette Gilman and Pauline Brown and two nephews, Chris Davis and John Hickson. She was preceded in death by her parents Viola and Raymond Hickson; her brother John Hickson; and sister Kaye Davis.
A lover of nature's gentle rhythms, Elizabeth found peace among her rose gardens and joy in sharing tea with friends. Manzanita Beach offered her solace; Sunday drives brought delight in the unexpected. With a twinkle in her eye and honesty on her lips, she met the world with warmth and clarity.
A Celebration of Life will be held on June 21, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Milwaukie Community Center, 5440 S.E. Kellogg Creek Drive.

Betty (Betty Boop to me), was a second mother to me and a best friend to my mom. We spent countless holidays together throughout my childhood, from recreating Thanksgiving into new ways to try new food and traditions (Mexican, Chinese & Middle Eastern), to road trip vacations near and far: the beach, Kahneeta & even my first time to Disneyland! (I will never forget her losing her wallet and we had to backtrack to find it somewhere along the road - I think!) My mom would walk 2.5 miles to her house for "a glass" of wine and conversation and walk back home. They worked at Willamette Falls (in different dept's) for many years. I am so thankful that Betty was a part of my life and my younger years that shaped me. She was feisty and independent and made me feel like I was part of her family. She will be missed, but I will never forget her laugh and smile.
