Dear Shelley, Terri & Denise & extended family: I am so sorry to hear of your mother's passing. Since I moved to Alburgh several years ago, I lost touch with her and didn't realize that she had been sick and I feel bad about that. Boots was such an upbeat person and it was so contagious to those around her! What a wonderful example for you. I am not able to be at the funeral but my thoughts are with you at this sad time. Sincerely, Maretta Hostetler

Dear Family,

I am saddened to learn of Boots death. My thoughts and prayers will be with all of you. Boots and I were friends in 4-H and later were classmates at Lyndon Institute. I remember the stories about her nickname and taking her show cattle into the house. In high school, Boots had a tough time with US History so we figured out a way for her to get through that. A few years later, as County Extension Agent for 4-H programs, I became well acquainted with Paul, Ginny, Mary Kay and Dennis Wood. I hadn’t see Boots for 50 years until we gathered for our 50th high school reunion. Given what has occurred, I feel real privileged to have seen and visited with her in June. During the reunion luncheon a classmate remarked, as Boots socialized, “she’s the same old Boots.” She really was, moving from group to group talking and having a very good time. So, Ginny, Mary Kay or Dennis – let me know how to contact you and I’ll check in with you sometime soon. Lindsay Townsend, P.O. Box 197, Fairfax, VT 05454.

Boots, you were a fire cracker! It is what those who knew you best will always remember about you. It's why we loved you. Stubborn? You bet! But so quick to reach out and help; to share whatever it was that you had that others might need. Always there with your quick wit and warm smile. Putting an arm around us - telling us that things were going to be alright.
Thank you for all of those things, "Bootsie Baby". I will miss you. We will all miss you.

You and Cyn had such a great time and always shared those times with us. You were loved and will be missed. You were so special in many ways, our love and thoughts will always be with you.

My prayers are with the family. I didn't know Boots personally but I grew up in South Kirby where her sister Virgina Wood lives and she spoke many times of her two sisters Boots and Jean and of the McNally farm.

I was very fortunate to have Boots as a colleague for over two decades. She guided me, humored me, helped me, educated me, and supported me in our mutual work in human services. I know that she touched many lives including mine over the years, and my rememberances will continue to shed light on my future course.

To Cyndie, her family, her extended family and the inumerable members of her adopted family members at the Inn - both past and present -, I offer my sincere condolences and mourn our personal and our community's loss.

Boots would not remember me, but I could never forget her. I grew up in Lyndonville, and "Bootsie" was a wonderful part of our household. My aunt, Bertha T. Koury, was her teacher at LI. My parents, Ned & Sarah Handy, welcomed Bootsie as a winderful member of our household. I can remember vividly Bootsie's visits. She always brought such joy and energy. She made me feel that growing up must be a really great thing if one can possess the spirit she so radiated.
I am sure she made a difference in so many lives as she did so many years ago in Lyndonville in our household.
May her peace now provide peace to her family.
