Mr. Melancon and family,
I was sorry to hear about Ms. Betsie. I only visited with you a couple of times, but felt a connection. Ms. Betsie had a sparkle that you could feel without her speaking. I know she will be greatly missed. I will keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers.

Betsy and family, I regret that I was unable to attend your funeral. Your brother Will and I were classmates at Jesuit High and you and I were classmates at Loyola. I pray that you went immediately to Heaven; your last days were your Purgatory on earth. God bless your husband and children.

Dear Paul:
It is always difficult for me to find words expressing the feelings upon learning the loss of a loved one. I know how much you love and care for Elizabeth. Although I never knew her in person I can tell she was a wonderful lady and that you both had a wonderful life together.
Paul, the good news is that you will see her again one day and there will be no more sorrows and tribulations.
"Precious in the eyes of the Lord is the death of his faithful ones."(Psalm 116:15)
My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Dearest Betsie,
You and I go back to the early '50's when we were in high school and met playing tennis at Audubon Park. Loyola was where our friendship developed into something amazing.

When Paul and you and John and I married, we developed a "strong four-some" friendship. Even though we lived in different states, we kept in contact with each other through family trips, visits and phone calls.

More recently we'd laugh and talk on the phone. Later you would play the piano for me and I would listen. Still later, Paul would hold the phone to your ear and I would talk and you would listen. Then I would say "give my girlfriend a kiss for me".

Thank you Betsie for your cherished friendship throughout the years. Love, your friend Beth Ann.

Dear Paul and family, I was so saddened to hear of Betsie's death. She was such a beautiful southern lady and wonderful cousin. I loved when we had talks about the old days at the Bay. I teach Special Education and could not get a substitute for my Autistic class ,and Mom has been under the weather, so we cannot be with you tomorrow. Our family sends our love, prayers, and condolences to you and all of the family. God Bless. Suzanne LeBon Dorsey and family, especially Marion.

Stephanie, Cissy, Celeste & David,
I was just thinking about how your sweet Mother is able to see clearly now. I know she must be looking down from Heaven with such pride, finally able to see what magnificent children she raised and what beautiful grandchildren and great grandchildren she has. I am glad that she is no longer suffering, but my heart is heavy for you knowing how much you will miss such a truly wonderful lady.
Keeping your family in my prayers.

Celeste, My thoughts and heart go out to you and the entire Melancon family at this difficult time. I have always admired and respected your family in many ways. I know Betsy had many gifts but maybe her greatest gift was of being an incredibale matriarch and role model. I would bust with pride to have children and grandchildren like this family! Such accomplished, kind, compassionate people that truly live their faith! One person's life touches so many. You are her legacy, she lives on through all of you. May your fond memeories give you all comfort.
