Elizabeth Molloy Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 8, 2012.
Elizabeth Kelsey Molloy, 17, of Raleigh, died early Saturday morning, January 7, 2012 in a tragic car wreck in North Raleigh.

Elizabeth, who went by Liz, was born December 15, 1994 in Wilmington, DE to Cindy and Stephen Molloy. The family moved to North Carolina when Liz was three. She was a Junior and an honors student at Millbrook High School this year with high hopes for the future to come. She was an after school counselor at the YMCA, as well as a participant in school clubs such as the lacrosse club, student government, and DECA. Liz excelled at everything she put her mind to and was going to the DECA State Competition this March. She also volunteered evenings downtown tutoring children at the Helping Hands center. Liz was looking forward to applying to the NC State Business Management program next fall.

One of Elizabeth's greatest passions was helping others. Her volunteer work also extended to geriatric hospice care. She had a bleeding heart and an urge to aid if ever she was needed. This love also extended to animals and fostered her into being a vegetarian, with the exception of Buffalo wings (which until last year, was unaware were real chicken).

Liz was a fun-loving, caring, and one-of-a-kind individual. She loved the shore and frequently visited the Outerbanks with family and friends. Elizabeth enjoyed the luxury of the fine dining in the Molloy house at the hands of her mother, specifically anything involving shrimp (also discluded under her vegetarian rules). She supported the economy with her frequent shopping excursions and loved all things involving fashion. Liz always took pride in both her appearance and presence; she was the tall, blonde bombshell of the family. Her vibrant color palette was a mere extension of her vibrant personality and Lilly Pulitzer hit the nail on the head. One could often find her at North Ridge Country Club hitting the links and embarrassing the men around her as she drove the ball 300 yards. And as we were amused at their expense, Liz found laughter in everything, especially herself. There are countless memories of her nearly choking and gasping for air with her "silent" laugh. She lit up every room she walked into, and left the lights on. She loved spending time with her true friends and if one was lucky enough to be considered so, they had the most amazing friend in return.

Elizabeth is survived by her mother, Cindy; father, Stephen; step-father, George Apelian; younger brother, Jack; and older sister, Samantha.

In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to www.StudentsofAMF.org

Her family will receive friends Tuesday January 10, 2012 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E. Millbrook Rd., Raleigh, NC 27609. Funeral Services will be held at Saint Raphael The Archangel Catholic Church, 5801 Falls of Neuse Rd., Raleigh, NC 27609, Wednesday January 11, 2012, at 11:00 am with the family receiving friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Pine Forest Memorial Gardens, 770 Stadium Dr., Wake Forest, NC.

To the Molloy family:
It has been 4 months now since the tragic loss of your daughter/sister and I pray each day that you are blessed with God's healing and comfort. My son, Chris, knew Liz in middle school and was very fond of her. He has been devastated by her passing and speaks of her often. May the peace of the Lord be with you everyday of your lives, and may Liz's memory soothe your hearts.

We're deeply sorry for your loss ...we are praying that God will bring your hearts comfort and peace as only he can. Our memories of Liz are too many to mention over the years, but after the tears, always comes a smile! Liz was so sweet, and funny and we were richly blessed for the time she spent in our home - I hope it brings a smile to your face that I was finally able to convince her that you couldn't get maple syrup from an oak tree! We laughed so hard over breakfast that morning. We loved her and will miss her so much - we're praying for you all , God bless you Molloy family

I didn't know your daughter or any of your family, but I wanted to extend my sympathy to you all. My husband and I lost our precious 18 year old son Andrew and his best friend Carlisle in an auto accident July 19th, 2008. My heart goes out to your family because I know the heartache that your are experiencing. I pray that you can put your faith in the Lord and let him guide you.

I am so sorry to hear about your daughter, Liz. What a beautiful girl. I did not know her but I do know what you are going through. My son, Steven, died at 18 from the Wakefield car crash that killed him and 3 of his friends. It will be 6 years this coming March and not a day goes by we don't think about him. He, also, is buried
at Pine Forest right near the water. We go and sit on his bench very often, still. His one friend is buried in the mausolium and another also there, both from the accident.. Our prayers are with you and your family and we will think of you often and of Liz when we go to the cemetery. God Bless. Steven and Kathy George

I live in Wilmington,DE and read about your daughter in this morning's News-Journal. The obituary was so well written and full of her own brand of spirit, that I felt as if I had actually made her acquaintance. What a great gift to Liz and to those who did and did not know her.
As the mother of five (two of them teenagers), the references to fashion and wasted electricity were not only true, but could not have been more loving.
I will keep you in my prayers as you embark upon a profound journey filled with grief and healing. We lost a child nine years ago and I dare say, it will redefine your entire family. Embrace all you find dear, let people help and hold you for as long as you need and trust that Liz could not have been born into a better family.

Liz help me when I was sick struggling in chemistry last year and I thank her. This poem is entilted cry no more(you'll see liz again)
Liz is not here but she's not gone, her spirt still lives on. she had to leave this way but you must go on she'd pray. Never forget the times you may have shared or how much liz cared her love is always her, even though she's not here she not gone. Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal things are going to work out if we just believe that she is not here but she is not gone we will see Liz in heaven one day. Just another angel added in heaven to watch over us that are still here.

I got the pleasure of meeting Liz a little over a week ago while working together at the YMCA. In that one day of meeting Liz I felt like I had known her forever. Liz talked about her dreams of going to NC State, how she loved to shop, adored 7 jeans, and how she loved pink. She was even kind enough to let me use her eye liner. I thank GOD for letting me meet such a wonderful young lady with such an amazing personality. I know that she is in heaven wearing PINK and tons of GLITTER. Liz you have touched my heart forever, and I thank you for that. I send my condolences out to all her friends and family. Let God guide you through this time of heart ache.

My son introduced me to Liz his freshmen year. Liz would help my son carry his items when his hands were full, if my son forgot his lunch money Liz would offer to pay. My name is Shelby Overton, I had the blessing of knowing Liz through the YMCA afterschool program at Wildwood Elementary. She touched the lives of both of my children, Liz especially touched my daughter Alyssa as Liz was her counselor. Liz is going to be missed very deeply and my heart goes out to all of her family and friends. I know how tough this is with my own daughter having a really hard time understanding why this happened, but just know that she flew up to heaven on the wings of angels and she is smiling back down at us saying don't worry about me. (Alan Jackson: Sissy's song) This is the only thing that I can find to help soothe my daughter during this tough time, so hopefully it may help others with this tragic lost. I will contiue to pray and keep you all in my hearts. I am truly and dearly very sorry for your loss.
