Elizabeth Steinhauser Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 24, 2024.
Elizabeth Von Steinhauser, 58, of Buenos Aires, Argentina, passed away on February 12, 2024, in Jacksonville, FL. She moved to the US when she was 6 and spent half her life in New Orleans, LA and the other half in Jacksonville FL.

Liz was a beautiful soul who made friends everywhere she went. She was brilliantly smart, witty, kind, hilariously funny, a great mother, a great friend, and beautiful inside and out. She lived her life to the fullest, traveling the world doing all the things she loved and gracing all she met with her love and light.

She is survived by her mother Maria Vierhapper (née Puelma Lugones), brother Eric Von Steinhauser, daughter Erica Christenson, and her 4 beloved dogs. Liz was preceded in death by her father Carl Von Steinhauser "The Captain."

Liz loved animals, birds, gardening, music, art, and theater. She was well known for her elaborate costumes that never disappointed.

There will be a celebration of life for Elizabeth on April 20, 2024, at 1 pm in New Orleans. The gathering will take place at Vaughan's Lounge in the Bywater at 4229 Dauphine St. A jazz band will be present, and at 2 pm, there will be a walk (approximately 3 blocks) to scatter her ashes in the Mississippi River.

To quote Liz "All in all, life can certainly SUCK. However, you also have the memories of time spent. The love and adventures shared, the funny stories that will bring a smile to your face - that won't go away and makes all the crap worth it in the end".

May she live forever in our hearts.

Please donate to your local animal shelter or favorite animal rescue in her honor.

Childhood friends. Liz always smiling and making you laugh. She was a wonderful, thoughtful, caring, smart friend. We had so much fun on our sleepovers. May her memory be for a blessing!

Going surfing at Anastasia Island and setting up a tent so Liz wouldn´t burn so she and my wife could be comfortable. When I came in she said that she enjoyed the beach. Not something I expected. Years later I took Erica out and taught her how to surf.

Liz was so intelligent. I loved the conversations we used to have. I never had to 'dumb it down´ in speaking with her, as her vocabulary was as full as my own. I will miss her tremendously and send my deepest sympathies to Erica and all that knew and loved her.
