Elizabeth Rose Thurlow

Elizabeth (Liz) Thurlow, originally of Belmont, Massachusetts, passed away surrounded in love by her daughter, grandchildren and close loved ones at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Brighton.

Elizabeth is survived by her beloved daughter, Kimberly Rose Thurlow, and adored grandchildren, Alexia Rose Hernandez and Jake Daniel Hernandez, all of Newton. She is also survived by her uncle, Francis Brady of Waltham and aunt, Shirley Brady of Framingham, as well as many cousins and friends. She leaves her partner of 8 years, Fernando Samper, as well as her lifelong friend, Ernest Marchant.

She is the daughter of the late Rosemary (Brady) Thurlow and John Arthur Thurlow, the granddaughter of the late Francis and Rose (Giorgio) Brady, and the niece of the late John Brady.

Liz grew up with her mother and grandparents in Belmont, where she could be found in the kitchen cooking or eating with her Nona, watching The Waltons with her Tata, or playing in the nearby parks with her friends. As a child she spent many happy summers on the beach at Craigville, which resulted in her love of the ocean. Indeed, she had a passion for the outdoors and wildlife, loved to be outside or simply to watch animals in their natural habitat.

Liz was a loyal and devoted friend, with a wonderful sense of humor and a gregarious laugh that was contagious. Despite her facing many challenges in her own life, Liz was always able to smile through the difficult times and comfort anyone who needed her kindness. She was a compassionate person who always made time to listen to and care for the people she loved. She was loved deeply in return.

A memorial service for Liz on Friday, May 17, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Watertown, where she will be interred with her mother, Rosemary, who passed away in May of 2023.
