Sad to know that my friend from pottery days at Banff has left us. She was such an inspiration . Though it was long ago and faraway, she was in my thoughts often. We spent many happy hours together talking clay. My condolences to her family, your Mother really was a 'one-Off'

I will never forget Elke teaching me pottery. I remember going to her house with my mother, eating and playing with her children.
I also remember going to her cottage down near Pembina river. A great experience.
Elke was beautiful person and I will never forget how she effected my life.

Astrid - so sorry to hear about the passing of your mother. I hadn't seen her since you and I were kids, but hard not to live in St. Albert and not be touched by her passion and love for the environment. My sincere condolences to you and your family.

Elke's generosity and passion for the environment, the lake, protecting the environment, were inspiring. See her dandelion fritter recipe here
