Ella Mae Fortune

Ella Mae Fortune RIVERDALE, Ga. -- Mrs. Ella Mae Fortune was born Dec.7, 1927 in Saluda, SC, to the late John and Edna Kinard Davis. She received her early education in the public schools of Greenwood County and graduated from Brewer High School. She graduated from Brewer School of Nursing and was an LPN for many years. Mrs. Fortune went on to receive an associate degree in Nursing from Lander College in 1980. She worked as an RN for many years and retired from Self Memorial Hospital with over 25 years of service. On March 11, 2016, Mother Fortune departed this life quietly and peacefully at the home of her daughter in Riverdale, GA. She was preceded in death by her son, Johnny Frank Davis; two brothers, Buster Davis and John Evan Davis; two sisters, Isabella Hackett and Bertha Ouzts. She leaves to cherish fond memories: two loving and devoted daughters, Willie Mae Jordan of Riverdale, GA, and Deborah Diann Fortune Robinson (Elder Paul) of Asheville, NC; one sister, Mary Davis, Philadelphia, PA; two brothers, Rev. James Davis (Alice) of Wilmington, NC, and Frank Davis of Columbia, SC; one sister-in-law, Mother Betty Sue Dye of Greenwood, SC; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and the entire Bethlehem Church of God Holiness family, as well as many friends. Funeral services will be held at Bethlehem Church of God Holiness at 404 Spring Valley Road, Greenwood, SC, on March 19 at 1 p.m. Viewing of the body will be 1 hour prior to the service. Donald Trimble Mortuary, Decatur, GA, is in charge of arrangements.
