Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 4, 2007.
RICHFIELD SPRINGS _ Ella B. Hailston, 94, of Little Lakes Road, passed away peacefully Monday night, Oct. 1, 2007, at Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown.
She was born Feb. 1, 1913, in the town of Plainfield, daughter of the late Walter and Grace Casler Brown.
A lifelong area resident, Ella was a graduate of West Winfield High School. She furthered her education at the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Ill.
On June 10, 1936, she was united in marriage with Gordon E. Hailston in Unadilla Forks. They shared a blessed union of 52 years until his passing Dec. 22, 1984.
Ella had a strong belief in God and was a devoted member of the Jordanville Federated Church in Jordanville. She was also a member of the Jordanville Ladies Aide and the Warren Grange.
Mrs. Hailston's life was completely devoted to her family, her home and her church. Cherished are the memories of family times spent together and the wonderful aromas that filled their home with her baking those special molasses cookies or the many great meals that only she could cook.
In her leisure time, Ella enjoyed hooking rugs, reading and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.
Surviving are three sons, Robert Hailston of Bloomville, Edward Hailston and his wife, Joan, of Richfield Springs, and Richard Hailston of Warren; a brother-in-law, John Hailston and his wife, Dorothy, of Ilion; 11 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her parents, and husband, Gordon, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Royann Elizabeth Hailston.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Jordanville Federated Church with the Rev. Scott Hocking and Pastor Carolee Coy officiating. Interment will be in Crown Hill Memorial Park, Kirkland.
There will be no calling hours.
Funeral arrangements are with J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, Richfield Springs.
