Ella Jenkins

I was lucky to meet Ms. Jenkins at Palm Beach State College back in the mid 1970´s. My music professor asked her to do a program there as she knew her. Our performing group went out to dinner with her in Jupiter, Fla. Being 18 years old at the time I was unaware of just how well renown she was in children´s music education. I remember her well and sad to hear she passed.

I was randomly singing her song and the good Lord, lend me to discover her passing. I remember when I was a child singing as she taught us. "He has the whole world in his hands." among other unforgettable songs. The good Lord Bless her with the gift. May you rest in peace, and God Bless her soul.

I have been an Early Childhood Educator for 14 years, and Ella Jenkin's music is my favorite to sing with children! Thank you for sharing your music with so many children and educators.

I am a in-home childcare provider and her music is one of our favorite. I learned of her music when I first started in this field nearly 40 year's ago. My condolences to the family. May she rest in peace.

Sadly, for me, I just learned about the songs and life of Ms. Ella Jenkins. Just listening and watching her call and response style in her songs was captivating. So full of ideas and love for children and people. Worthy of imitation.

Reminds me of another great person who lived thousands of years ago that set the example and took time out for children. Perhaps Ms Jenkins may have learned about and imitated him when he said "Did you never read this, `Out of the mouth of children and infants, you have brought forth praise´?"

Ella made me laugh in this photograph.I was teaching her how to do a selfie. I was blessed to spend a lot of time with her at NAEYC whether we were searching for tchotchkes wheeling around the conference center. I spent November 2008 in Dallas Texas with Ella tonight. Barack Obama won presidency. We sat on a loveseat in the hotel, and she told me stories from her youth. She will always be my Ella. Laura Dion

40 years of Early Childhood service with Klamath Family Head Start Ella was one of my dearly beloved ECE Musicians. I shared her music with 1000's of Children over these years. Her music is and was the very best musical teaching tool ever. Ella will be remembered in my heart and mind all of my days. Condolences to any or all of her family.

While I never had the opportunity to meet Mrs Jenkins, my late husband, Milton D. Smith, learned how to play the Bongos through Mrs. Jenkins.
It has been 2 years since he passed, however, anytime Milton read in the newspapers or saw on the television anything about Mrs. Jenkins, he was thrilled to no end.
