It's been such a privilege and blessing to spend time with Mama at Roxie's house on occasion the past couple of years. Mama was a truly special woman, who loved and was tremendously loved. Her light lives on and her indomitable spirit is remembered. Thank you for sharing her. Praying for peace & comfort, love & hope,

Mother Carriere,
Will and I feel so privileged to have spent time in fellowship with you over the past few years. Your relocation to California was one of the blessings to result from the catastrophe of Katrina. I will always remember your courage and faith in the Lord in following Him as He led you to a new beginning. You were and are an example of what it means to "trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding." We miss you but we will meet again.

Mom Carriere (as I affectionately called her) was and "is" a phenomenal woman. I say "is" because she is more alive today than she ever was here on earth! She has become a "witness to The Resurrection"! Oh how she must be smiling as she looks upon the brightness of His glory. I will miss hearing that distinct voice over the phone, "Hey Gwen. How you doing? How is BeLen? When is she coming home from school? Tell her I said hello. I love you". These are words and conversations which money cannot buy. She was always kind and such a joy to be around. I never heard her complain so while pondering why she was always so kind and compassionate, I believe I heard The Lord whisper, "because she spent time in My presence and in My word".
Mom Carriere, your life was well lived; full of purpose, love, character, integrity & righteousness. Thank you for allowing Belen and me to get a glimpse of who Jesus really is.
We love you and miss you already. We are looking forward to "The Heavenly Reunion"!

Dear Lil Mama, I love you. You were my mother away from home. I learned so much from you. You were a lady with lots of spiritual knowledge and everyday knowledge. I learned how to cook so many things from you. It was so dear to me when you showed me how to finger curl Speeder's hair and you curled it and it was so pretty when you finished curling it. To me you were a lady among ladies. I love you. Love, Rosa

Dear Lil Mama, I love you. You were like my mother away from home. I learned so much from you. You were a lady with lots of spiritual knowledge and everyday knowledge. Hi Lil Mama,
I would like to start off by saying I love you plenty and you were an exceptional and virtuous woman! One particular memory I have is kissing JoJo on the forehead in his casket as a young child and you pulling me to the side after the funeral and telling me that I was a brave young girl and that it was sweet of me to give JoJo a kiss. Now you're gone and you are able to be with JoJo once again! Another is remembering coming to your home for the holidays and you would go to the back and come back with two 2 dollar rolls of nickels for me and my niece Donna Marie! When I think of you I can remember following you into the bathroom because you were going to put on your make up and pin your hair up and I just loved watching you continue to make sure you looked good at any age from the lipstick to the bobby pins, I love you!

My Dear Lil Mama, you were absolutely stunning, you always knew what to say and when to say it! Your words lifted me up in some of my sad moments and I thank you for it all. Your sharp mind never deminished and you sure knew how to put a hurting on me with Scrabble. It's the "Lil" things that count and just to come over to watch Wheel of Fourtune with you was a blessing for me! You always did and always will continue to inspire me!
I love so much, my beautiful Aunt!

Grandma,

Our Lord and Saviour knew when to bring you home....what a beautiful time of year and your favorite. Although I did not grow up with you on a daily basis, I am forever grateful for the times we were together. My childhood memories will forever be ingrained in me. The past nine years were the best. Playing rummy with you and your cute innocent face, while trying to pull a fast one on me. I miss you and love you!

Grandma,
One of my favorite memories is when you played a trick on Grandpa. Grandpa loved to put Borden's condensed milk in his Strong Community Coffee. You thought the Borden's brand was getting pricey, so you started removing the labels on the can to trick him, while you bought a cheaper brand. You told Grandpa that there was a coupon on the label and that is why you had to remove them. He never knew the difference. LOL. The little things you did were so funny and will remain in my(our) hearts forever.

Grandma "Ellie-Nori"
Will cherish the memories...Eating red beans and shortcake, playing Scrabble, watching Wheel of Fortune while drinking Community Coffee, standing in front of the heater, the list goes on....The best grandmother, mother, mentor, cook in the world. Irreplaceable*

My dearest Lil Mama. You were always such a sweet and caring Aunt. I remember all the Christmases when we would visit, you would serve the children just like you would the adults. We were never left out. I remember me and Joy coming to you the day before any special occasion or holiday to get our hair in finger curls. Boy did I love those curls. You will truly be missed, but you will always be in my heart. Although we are losing you here, there are many waiting for you at those pearly gates of Heaven. Tell everyone I love and miss them and could you be sure and give my granddaughter Sydney a special hug and kiss for me and tell her I miss her soooo much.
I remember your beautiful yard with all the different flowers. God has picked one of the best to be with him.??????

"Lil Mama" also known as your sister my grandmother calls you JETT. You will be forever missed. Especially when you would come home and tell me to get the scrabble board. You will be remembered for many things but coffee in that perculator and dipping that bread is something I will never forget. Or you giving me those quarters to go by Cheese to get a zip. I can go on and on. But God needed you more than we do. To be absent from the body is to be present with The Lord and I know in my heart you will be a GREAT ASSET to the kingdom. God bless your soul and my you rest in peace.

Lil Mama,
My beautiful, kind & gracious Aunt. Thank you for so many wonderful memories. You were always very kind and loving. I know you will grow beautiful Christmas Catus in Heaven the way you grew them in Slidell. I tried to make Fritters this week the way you made them when I was a child, maybe with more practice I will make them as delicious as you made them. You will always be in my heart.

Ellanora "Lil Mama" Carriere

Lil Mama. A more beautiful spirit I've never known. She was my favorate aunt. When I think of Lil Mama, I think of a brilliant mind and a strong body. Lil Mama could fool you with her quiet manner. In fact, she was a serious competitor. I can still see her leaning over the table enaged in a fierce game of Scrabble with her daughter-in-law, Linda and hearing her accuse Linda of cheating, while exclaiming, "That ain't no word!!!."

Lil Mama was also a great cook. My favorate dish was her stuffed crab. Man, I'd do anything for one of those crabs right now! I think that's how all her kids grew to be so tall and heautiful.

Lil Mama knew her Lord and Savior. She was a very spiritual woman, she loved everyone and everyone loved her.

She is complete now. She is back in Uncle Joe's arms. I'm so happy to have her as my advocate in heaven. I miss you Lil Mama and I will keep you in my heart forever.

Ellanora, what a precious jewel! She graced us with her loving presence and her beautiful spirit. She was always so warm and kind and welcomed me as you would a daughter. It was such a joy to know her.

One of my fondest memories - trying to keep up with her when we went shopping or out to eat. She will be missed.

Eleanor Carriere, I had the privilege ro fellowship with Mel and meeting other family members and I was so impressed with their excellent godly character, the joy that flows from them, the southern hospitality, love, and caring family. I know this stems from you! Thank you for your legacy! May your celebration of your life continue for generations. Love grace

Ellanora has been light in our world, like a city on a hill. She could not be hidden, for the brightness of her shining.

Always cheerful and kind, thoughtful of others. I loved the way she said my name and she was so much fun to go out to eat with. Because of her, I was introduced to the Panda Inn and their great shrimp. (And I don't usually want shrimp!)

But even more importantly, I have been blessed by the heritage she now passes on through her daughters, a heritage of beauty, joy, FAMILY and love for the Lord.

She knew what was most important and she chose THAT.

Thank you God for letting me know her for the short time I did.

My Beautiful Mama

My Dear Mom,
You were the best Mom ever!!! We were so blessed that God chose you to be our Mom. You were a role model for so many, not just family members. So many people loved and admired you. I miss you so much. I miss watching you enjoy and love God, your family, eating good food, and life. I love you Mom!!
