Ellen Asher Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 9, 2025.
Ellen Faith Asher April 29, 1948 - July 2, 2025

Ellen's life was not easy but it was amazing. Born with an extremely rare form of a rare disease, Porphyria, that has no treatment and no cure, Ellen made her life wonderful despite the odds. With her body ravaged by chronic illnesses the way it was throughout, her life could have been an exercise in futility. Ellen, however, was ever the optimist in maximizing the qualities and abilities she did possess, and in using what she'd learned from that to help others - and she helped so many.

She excelled throughout school ultimately becoming a school teacher.

She became a research paralegal providing decisive research in a landmark class action lawsuit regarding the harm done to American military personnel by the use of Agent Orange during the Viet Nam war. The case which was initially thought to be a lost cause was won. Ellen's contribution was acknowledged by both sides.

She earned a Master's Degree in Psychology and had a private practice for many years.

She loved people and went to great lengths to help however and whenever she could. She was loved by many people.

Unable to have children she went on to foster over 200 dogs which were removed from negative situations, restored to health with nourishment and love, and thoughtfully rehomed.

No one benefited more from all these and more of Ellen's loving qualities and ways than her husband, Sam. Married in 1984 they shared life, love and business together. She also leaves behind more good friends from around the world than we could count.

When Ellen had told all of her people on social media that she was dying one of them wrote to her, "I've never met you, but I love you."

Ellen was a true fighter. I admired her desire to live the best life she can and do the hard work. I also admired the deep love between Ellen and Sam. I miss Ellen.

I met Ellen because she was looking for someone to restore and retouch photos for her husband Sam. she had tried many many people before but when she ran her fingers over the LA workbook she felt a vibration when she touched my name. She called me, she told me how she had come to call me out of hundreds of people. We connected instantly she was truly an amazing brilliant woman& dear friend it was such a gift from the universe when she called. Exactly what I needed. I was so upset when they moved away but happy for their new life.
I know i will always be connected to Ellen in the spiritual realm she was a kindred spirit and soul sister. Love & peace to all who´s lives she touched
The world was a better place because of Ellen. Special love & condolences to her dear husband Sam an equally wonderful and brilliant human being. Rest In Peace dear Ellen, & dance with the angels.
