Ellen Bill Obituary
Mrs. Ellen Oakes Bill, 86, of Fayetteville, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, July 3, 2025.
Mrs. Bill, the oldest of 10 children, was born August 1, 1938 in Hookerton of Green County, NC, to the late Benton Watkins Oakes Sr. and Thelma Dixion Taylor Oakes.
She graduated from White Oak High School of White Oak, NC in 1956 . She attended Fayetteville Technical Community College graduating with a degree in Nursing, She was a member of Walstone Memorial Baptist Church.
Mrs. Bill was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Harold Gray Bill. Siblings that precede her in death are Benton W. Oakes Jr., Mary Elizabeth Mehl, Fletcher R. Oakes, Kenneth E. Oakes, and E. Keith Oakes. Surviving siblings are Peggy O. Carter of Clinton; Joseph D. Oakes (Pam) and Carol O. Rouse(Bobby) both of Faison; and David E. Oakes (JiWone) of Enterprise, Alabama.
Surviving children are Sharon B. Scott(Claude), Steven G. Bill (Lisa), Daron C. Bill, Patricia B. Lindsey (Troy), all of Fayetteville; and special niece, Tanya Marie Oakes Foalima of Oxford. Mrs. Bill is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
A visitation to receive family and friends will be held at 11 am with a memorial service to follow at 12 pm on Saturday, July 19, 2025 at Walstone Memorial Baptist Church located at 260 Walstone Dr, Fayetteville, NC.
Memorials may be made to Walstone Memorial Baptist Church in lieu of flowers.
