Ellen Mozelle Blizzard

BLUEFIELD, W.Va. — Ellen Mozelle Blizzard, 104, of 4211 Beacon Street, Bluefield, W.Va., died Wednesday December 3, 2008 in a Bluefield hospital.Born February 8, 1904 in North Wilkesboro, N.C., she was a daughter of the late Thomas Wood and Amelia Ellen Staley Wood. Mrs. Blizzard moved to Bluefield from Coaldale, W.Va. in 1983 and she was a homemaker. She was also a member of Cumberland Heights Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Blizzard was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Walter Blizzard Sr.; one son, Claude Blizzard Jr.; one sister, Irene Rutland and one granddaughter, Cindy Stassin.Survivors include her son, Kermit Blizzard and his wife Wada of Bluefield, W.Va.; three daughters, Lolas Brown and her husband Ralph of Virginia Beach, Va., Lena Riley of Brushfork and Beulah Radt and her husband Richard of Richmond, Va.; six grandchildren, Barry Blizzard, Curtis Radt, Claudette Brown, Keith Radt, Melissa Kasun and Mary Blizzard; nine great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren; and niece, Doris Wiley of Bluefield, Va. The family will receive friends at Mercer Funeral Home on Friday December 5, 2008 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday December 6, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in the Mercer Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Olen Robertson and the Rev. Jim Kestner officiating. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
