I was so saddened to hear of the passing of Ellen. She was such an important person in my life. I was blessed when she chose me to be her Secretary (my official title on paper although she called me her Assistant) when she was the Deputy Chief of Staff at Commerce. She was so kind to everyone around her and treated everyone as an equal even though she was the smartest person in the room. I loved watching her interact with all of the many personalities she had to deal with in her position. She was always calm and in control and very respectful to everyone. And she was so funny. We had so many fun times laughing with each other and sharing stories about our children together. Her family meant everything to her. I remember when she was researching sites to find a Cavalier King Charles dog for her kids and when she finally found the one she was looking for. She invited me to Michael's bar mitzvah and it meant so much to me and I loved that experience. Ellen was a wonderful person who touched every person she came in contact with. She has left an incredible legacy for Michael and Jenna. I will never forget her.
