Mrs. Ellen Kay Hardin Owens, 75, wife of Francis Earl Owens, of Mullins, entered the Kingdom of Heaven on angel wings during the late evening of Monday, May 30, 2022, surrounded by her family at MUSC Health Marion after a gradual decline in health.

Mrs. Owens had worked as an Administrative Assistant with the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC), but her favorite job was that of grandma, where she got to spoil and love on her grandbabies. Mrs. Owens was a member of the Woodlawn Park Baptist Church.
Surviving Mrs. Owens is her second husband of the home, Francis Earl Owens; her two loving daughters: Pam (Ashlee) Smith of Florence and Misty (Jimmy) Barrett of Florence; her three beloved grandchildren: Hollie Barnes, Luke Barrett, and McKenzie Barrett; her stepson: Danny Batchelor; her special friend she loved as a daughter, April Lewis; her three sisters: Deloris Sease, Sharon Smith, and Sue Bennett; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Owens was predeceased by her first husband, Jimmy Smith; and her two brothers, Jimmy Hardin and Buck Hardin.
A visitation will be held Thursday, June 2 from 2:00 until 3;00 P.M. at Cox-Collins Funeral Home.

Oh Mama, your birthday is coming up in 6 days, and you would be 79 this year. So much to talk to you about and so much has happened in our little family since you went home to be with the Lord. I still miss you everyday and think about you all the time. I love you Mama and will see you again one day. I know the birthday celebrations in heaven have to be amazing--I'll see you soon!

Oh, Mama, it's been three years since I've heard your voice or seen your smile. Time hasn't made it easier for me and somedays, I feel like that six-year-old little girl waiting for my Mama to come get me. I just miss you so much Mama. Keep watching over me. I love you forever!!

Ellen Kay, I miss our telephone conversations so much. Even though we lived long distance we would talk almost everyday. It is not the same for me but I know I will see you one day along with the others who have gone on. RIP in your Heavenly home, Love your sister.

Pam Misty and family , I am so sorry about Ellen Kaye. We had many good times and sad times also over the last 50 plus years. She was not just a sister in law , she was a friend. May all the good memories help you through this time and may Gods peace surround you now and always.
