Ellen Marie Schluth Wilson was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on December 20, 1932 and departed this world on January 23, 2017. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
She was predeceased by her husband Frank, her sisters Elizabeth and Francis and her parents Adelle and Frank. She is survived by her children, Joanne and Charles. Ellen was also blessed to cherish her son-in-law Todd Mitchell and daughter-in-law Melissa Wilson. Her pride and joy was the love of her grandchildren that she adored, Aaron, Justin, and Thomas Wilson and Katherine and Angela Mitchell. Each grandchild had a special relationship with Grandma Wilson that that they will hold close in their hearts forever.
In 1955 Ellen married a handsome Navy sailor who promised her that “life would never be boring”, and it wasn’t. They moved across the country to Berkley, California where she embraced the life as a military wife. After returning to the east coast in Virginia for 3 years, the family of four settled in San Diego where they would raise their family and enjoy all that Southern California had to offer. Frank and Ellen enjoyed boating, camping, eating out with friends, grilling at home and their Church of Christ family. Ellen was close to her sisters despite the miles that separated them over the years.
Ellen’s life can be defined as her being a devoted, loving, compassionate and fun-spirited woman who strove to see the best in every human being. She will be deeply missed.
In lieu of flowers, Ellen’s favorite charities was SAFE – Saving Animals from Euthanasia. Please visit their webpage to learn more about how to help support their pet adoption program. SAFE -Pet Rescue http://www.safe-pet-rescue-fl.com/
A private graveside service was held at El Camino Memorial Park in San Diego, California officiated by our long-time family Pastor, Kevin Withem of North County Church of Christ.

Do not stand at my grave and weep;
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there, I did not die.
