I had not seen Mr. Halio in many years. However, I have very fond memories of when he and dad practiced law together first on Broad and then on Meeting. he was always very good to me as a little guy running through the law office on the second floor with squeaky wood floors, a loud water cooler, and an inconveniently located bathroom.

Elliott was a thoughtful, caring brother-in-law. and brother. Jay and I had wonderful visits with him and Frances in New York City where we enjoyed good food and good theatre together. I especially enjoyed his great sense of humor and his loving spirit. Bless your heart, dear Elliott. Love, Diane

I had the good fortune to visit with Elliot briefly at Andy's wedding. He was a very kind and generous man. Those who knew him should consider themselves lucky. I'm sure he is deeply missed by loved ones and friends. May he rest in eternal peace and may peace come to those who mourn.

I had the privilege as a young lawyer to meet a real gentleman attorney and his son. As I watched them work in the Charleston County Courthouse you could see the professionalism and care in how they tried their case together. At the end of the trial I learned that Mr. Halio and I shared a lot in common. We were both from Brooklyn, New York. We both Proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Additional we both had gone through Parris Island boot camp to become Marines. Mr. Halio's decision to choose to reside in Charleston was another decision that impacted my life greatly because I could quickly see how the older professional lawyers were willing to mentor younger attorneys in their quest to practice law. I was welcomed by Mr. Halio and his son, Andy, as a colleague and a friend. To this day Charleston is my home. This lawyer's lawyer will be sadly missed. Elliott truly exhibit the Marine Corps Motto of Semper Fidelis. Rest in Peace, Marine. God Bless.

I had the privilege of taking care of Mr. Halio many times during his hospital visits. He was indeed a wonderful man. He would gladly put down his book to engage in conversation and always ask me about my hobbies, always remembering what they were. As nurses, we always try to project a caring attitude, yet so many times he was the one showing even more caring for us. He will truly be missed, and was genuinely loved by so many nurses. I am honored to have met him.

My heart breaks, but I know he's in a better place. My thoughts go out to his family, especially his son who I got to know as well as Mr. Halio over the years. It saddened me to see him each time in the hospital, but I was happy to see him as well. You'll be missed!

I only had the pleasure of working with Elliott on a very few occasions as opposing counsel. He was a truly gifted lawyer, but more importantly, he was both kind and a true gentleman. My sincerest condolences go out to Andy (who has followed in his father's foot steps both as a lawyer and as a man) and to the entire Halio family. I know the loss you feel is keen and I hope that God brings you comfort now and in the future. God bless you as I know He has Elliott.

I was in Judge Halio's court at the age of 16. As a youthful traffic offender I was assigned to attend 4 court sessions. I learned respect for our justice system and have always held Elliott Halio in high esteem.

I want to express my condolences to Andy and the entire Halio family on Elliott's passing. I met Elliott shortly after I began practicing law. I introduced myself and he recognized my last name. It turns out Elliott and my Dad were at Paris Island together and they shared rides back and forth to Charleston many times while they were stationed there. He was a great lawyer and wonderful friend to me and my Dad. I will never forget him or the kindness he showed me on numerous occasions over my career.

ELLIOTT WAS ONE OF THE FIRST LAWYERS I MET WHEN I CAME TO CHARLESTON OVER 40 YEARS AGO. HE, AS SO MANY OF THE MEMBERS OF THE CHARLESTON BAR WERE AT THAT TIME, WAS THE EPITOME OF THE GENTLEMAN LAWYER IN THE GENTLEMAN BAR. THESE FINE MEN MADE ME UNDERSTAND THAT OUR DUTY TO OUR CLIENTS WAS TO ADVOCATE FAIRLY AND TRY TO SOLVE THE PROBLEMS OF THE CLIENTS, NOT TO WAGE WAR IN THE COURTS. I WILL MISS ELLIOTT VERY MUCH.

As a young lawyer, I had many occasions to work with Elliott (usually as opposing counsel). I always remember Elliott as pleasant, personable, helpful and a pleasure to work with. He was truly one of the old-school gentleman lawyers. My condolences to Andy and the entire family.
